Mint thanks man. Yeah reading over that AMC forum reply seems like this might be the only way to do it properly (and safely).
Yes, does look like a weird design.

Looks like you need this tool
http://www.skidmore.edu/~pdwyer/amc/jacobspringtool.htm
Then jack up the opposite corner to compress the spring and hook the took into the holes on the spring cuts. This keeps the spring compressed so it will come free when you jack the front up.
Don't go dismantling the suspension with the spring still loaded

I'm thinking of stepping up to some Rancho off road adjustables.

Howdy.
I stuck a camera under the car and went for a drive. This is quite bouncy over bumps, and idea how I can tame that. Currently considering some beefier shocks.

Had a look at that section of the book, but all it says is that TAC approval is needed.

"A wheel which is hand-built or custom-manufactured, either through a casting or a machining process, by someone other than a recognised high-volume aftermarket wheel manufacturer, that is fitted to a low volume vehicle, must meet the requirements of 12.13.1 of Chapter 12 of the New Zealand Car Construction Manual."
^ From the LVVTA Standard. You can buy manual sections separately on line.

Morris 8 or early Ford Defect? Morris Minor ones are common I guess, but not super narrow.

Went for a swim in the Otaki River this evening, lower down near the road suspension bridge. Water was nice and warm.
Heaps of people there though.

Have you got a dial gauge so you can check the disc runout?

Bunnings m8. Air is what you want. Don't settle for anything else. What's your address I'll send you some staples. Got thousands of them here. Also you want a 80 series gun. Around then 80 dollar mark I think. Last 3 years so far. What are you covering? BTW boxes of staples come in boxes of 100000 for 4mm....
Re-doing some of the trashed panels on the oxford wagon. Glue is OK up to a point but I want to hold some of the curved edges on better (plus I find it hard to get the location correct with the contact glue). Will have a look on the way home today.

Man, @Pee Dubs should complete this one.
-
Anyone(maybe @64vauxhall)want to recommend a staple gun for upholstery - needs to fire short staples (4mm). Manual would be OK, or air-powered.
Just for hacking so nothing too $$$. The ones I've found online are 6mm.
