  1. So here's my old Honda CB125 - the Lifan engine installed by the previous owner was promptly removed and a XR200 engine I got off some guy here on OS a while back was installed. Can't remember his name, good guy though, lived out Piha ways and had a sweet Volvo wag. Any who, gave it a paint and a new carb and away she goes. Also: * De-seamed the welds on the tank, added a 'sternal fuel gauge (just for giggles), derusted it, flushed some of the "Honda" badges, knocked some knee craddles into it and gave it a paint (Honda Metallic Ice Tea, Honda S600 red (red line also doubles as the "empty" line on the fuel gauge) and matt brown. (Special thanks to Sam for sourcing the missing badge! Looks great mate!) * Knocked up some wood knee craddles on the tank. * New laminated side covers with hole for the filter. * Ford F100 radiator hose for the intake. * Cambells soup can front guard works a treat. * New oversized LED/projector head light and mounts to accommodate the size conversion, hopefully be able to actually see the road at night now. * New chopped bars, grips and throttle. * Running 12V now so ripped out the inards and made a new battery box etc. * New custom exhaust and muffler. And a bunch of other small stuff. Still to do the seat, rear light and rear guard, but that can wait. Goes in for a WoF on Friday all going well!
  2. Here's my new Hondarific CB100 with a new Lifan 200 to give it a bit more life. Gona be my learner bike so expect lots of noob questions! Colour has already started growing on me. Given it a bit of the once over, indicator bulbs, refixing stuff and cut off the extra foot stand. Should be a blast! Sounds beast, can be a bit of a pain to start, but once it's up it's good and has enough oomph to get me around town.
  3. Saw this bad boy up for sale, glad some one on OS scored it!
  4. Guy! G'day man, havn't looked at this post in years. Yeah man, I'll come say g'day next time I'm over and we'll have a catch up. Would fully be keen to have a go at making one, it's been to long between welds. What's your number bro? And where's pics of your bikes? Anywho, this bike is now up for sale: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=625405552
  5. I also hear expansion chamber exhausts are the go on 2 strokes. Where would one aquire such an item? Would one of these modifyed to fit be the go? http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/5/ ... C_ID=10010
  6. Oh yeah, anyone know where to get a cheap 6 volt battery from?
  7. Cheers Chris! It's finally arrived! It's my first bike ever, so completely utterly noobish, but from what I can tell taking it for a quick spin it's a 3spd and chops through the gears pretty well. Smokes up a storm, gota love the 2 strokeness. Here's a dumb question, if I made up the wrong ratio 2 stroke mix (1:30) would that be enough to stop it running? Cause it ran out of fuel and I had a rough guess at the mixture and now it don't start no more... gutted. Mate snapped this awesome pic of me and the wife going down the alley.
  8. Like an employer!! Sweet 2 strokeness... Those indicators are rather large though tbh.
  9. Sicko! Man it's got a good looking body for a '69! Digging your colour scheme idea - do it!
  10. INSPIRATION!!! Is it water on the knee?! ^^ Love these dudes bikes.
  11. <---(this does not get used nearly enough) So ampping to get it now! Have to wait to go up to Auckland to pick it up on Monday, the suspense is killing me! It's my first bike (if you can call it that) and have no solid ideas. Will let the inspiration flow when I see her. The rough plan is to make it into a beach bike that can nip me round to different spots. So have been day dreaming on the best way to have a removable surfboard rack on the left hand side. Have a novel, cheap idea but will have to wait and see. Kinda been digging Duess Ex' kinda style for a long time, probebly take some inspiration from there, but keep it looking low budget if that makes sense. Basicly what a 15 year old me would do to a bike but lacked in style and abilitys hahaha. Oh yeah, it's 2 stroke! = 1up! 3 spd too.
  12. I wish this one was! Then it would get to 80kph in double time
  13. Hey y'all. Just a quick question, and if you can answer I'll get ya some jelly beans if ever I see you. The van has what I presume is a breather hole in the gas filler lid. If we fill much over half way with petrol, it start peeing out this breather hole. Now I think the garage smells great with the gas smell, but the wifes not too keen and the puddle on the floor is money down the drain. Any ideas how to stop it? Drill a hole in the top of the petrol tank? I figure it's some kind of pressure problem. Cause once the cars been running a while, i'm guessing the petrol might heat up a tad and expand/cause pressure problems or something? That's my best guess, but some help would be appreciated. Cheers ears!
  14. So last night it's having a wee bit of trouble. The engine stalls/cuts out when ever I'm in neutral or the clutch is pressed in for more than 2 seconds. The RPM's just drop and it dies. I remember having this problem years ago and can't remember what it was. And sounds/feels a bit iffy when driving. Any ideas? Vacuum leak? EGR valve?
  15. Rad rod caravan? Way easier and cheaper than doing it up properly. Could you imagine the looks it'd get? + it's most of the way there allready. ie Preemptive +1!
  16. Cheers mate, yeah she is. Lold at big block. 5 speed would be awesome, this ones only 4. 130kph in one of these sounds like straight up death hahaha
  17. Charade engine Stainless steel extractors leading to the stainless exhaust: Got some sweet cassettes the other day for the tape player (the animals, cream, otis redding etc etc) Todays mission, clean up the rear seat frame and find the anchor points for the seat belts and put them in. Interior isn't too shabby, except for the carpet. Lucky the wife works right beside Carpet Court so hopefully they'll have some off cuts that suit so I can replace it. Need about 3mx1.3m.
  18. Flew down to Palmy and drove this back yesterday for the Mrs - got home 10 hours later!! 50-80kph + a few stops cause it was getting a bit warm and didn't want to fry it. Has a 1 litre Charade 3 banger put into it, up on the 850cc it had in it, the old boy who had it made up some stainless extractors and ehaust for it cause he didn't want it to rust hahaha... An absolute gem, maintained like nothing else - the old boy who owned it has taken the skins off the interior panels and sprayed with CRC once a year, so it won't rust. One of the indicator bulbs wasn't working so he took it to the Auto sparkey and told them to replace every bulb in the vehicle! So I have a nice jar of perfectly good spare bulbs hahaha... Have all the reciepts for everything. He's also recorded the perfect amount of turns to lower the spare tyre under the carpet - 60. Not 59, and not 61. It shall be 60 turns and no more or less. OCD much? I think it must still have the 850 gearbox cause around town it hauls but starts ringing out about 80kph, pretty low geared but perfect city hauler!
  19. Oh, also want to do a caravan "round headlight" conversion too, so if anyone knows where a set can be picked up (even from overseas if need be) let me know! They are proving to be hard to find. Kind of like this:
  20. Minor update: Starting to get on top of some minor electrical issues (rear wiper, squirter, tail lights, dash lights and ICE all not working) and are all fixed. Left on the sparky list: Get the moon roof motor fixed (got no idea how to do that) Get alarm rewired. Taking the roof racks in to be modifyed next week - here's hoping they do a good job!
  21. This is how we've been campin' lately, but this will change. Going to keep the middle row of seats and have a "fold down bed" type set up. Going to try get the Mrs to score some sweet new/old stock of Torleys flooring from work to build the base with. (only the finest) Tons of room to work with here, could come out nice and super functional with a bit of planning: Radom camping pick to keep camper motivation high: And yes... yes it was almost a triple rainbow... no lies! Too much is what it means...
  22. Just wondering if anyone knows of any of these around in a wreckers or anywhere? After a drivers side rear window frame.
