  1. Yeah man so keen on a TD05. I planned on getting a TD05 anyway, but thought the TC06 would be a good idea in the meantime. But shit I might as well just go straight to the TD05. I'll give that TC06 a miss on trademe, it's missing the wastegate actuator and a few things anyway.
  2. Hey guys, on my 1980 Mitsu Eterna GSR I have a baby TC05 turbo which runs out of puff by 4500rpm - have found a TC06-11 on trademe but it's off a FWD car probably Cordia GSR or Sigma GSR. Does anyone know for certain if the housings are rotatable and if all the flanges are the same on the TC05 and TC06? Cheers, Phil
  3. Yeah those pics were taken at the guys house where I picked it up. Didn't have much time to take heaps of shots. Will get more soon. Not sure on the wheels - any which suit the 1980s theme though I guess. Haven't thought much about colour but I like RS Watanabe's in silvery-gumetal grey or any rims with a polished lip with maybe black or yellow centres. I need 15" + as it has 195/70 R14 tyres standard and I want way less profile without making the overall rolling diameter much smaller. Would use 205/55 R15 or something.
  4. Dude thats awesome. I need your help with all the vacuum lines - there are just too many for emissions and crap which I want to remove - but I don't know which ones to remove.
  5. That silver one is a 76-80 Sapporo. Mine is a 80-82 Eterna. Same car basically, just mine is jap market and the Sapporo is european/US market. The NZ-new ones were called Galant Lambda's and the Australian ones were called Scorpions. I don't like the tail lights of that older shape one, same with that trim piece behind the rear pillar.
  6. Not oldschool?! it's got fender mirrors and everything! If mine's not oldschool what does that make your Starlet?
  7. So you are saying one of these isn't ugly at all? When this here (stolen pic from ProZac), is completely ugly?
  8. Each to their own mate. Remember this is a car from 1980. The shape was first released in 1976. I don't think the colour does it justice really. For its age it is in excellent condition with one owner for 20 years and low milage - that's mainly what appealed to me. I don't particularly like your Mazda shape but you don't hear me bagging it. I can think of much more uglier cars than mine, like those early 80s Cosmos for instance.
  9. Haha yeah I saw ya, by the time I realised you were waving at me you had gone by already.
  10. I got it for $1660 in the end. Haha I was only going to spend $1500 max but I dunno I just got carried away on the bidding - I knew I couldn't let this slip through my fingers. Since ownership the right rear electric window has stopped going up and down - yep it's a Mitsubishi alright. I want to lower it a bit and get some camber going on in the rear. Supercheap is going alright haha - same shit different day really.
  11. Discussion thread - //oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=9691 so I bought me a new oldschool car - getting rid of the Corolla as it will take alot of work to bring it up to the condition the Eterna is in. An old couple have had the car since it was imported in 1988 and in nearly 20 years they have only done 80,000kms on it. It now has 128,000kms on the clock. It boasts a turbocharged fuel injected 4G63 2L SOHC powerplant, mated to 5 speed manual gearbox with independant rear suspension and four wheel ventilated disc brakes. Inside it has electric pillarless windows front and rear, electric fender mirrors and original as 'TURBO' imprinted seats. Anyway, here are some pics: Massive oil cooler - My plans for this beast firstly is to remove the over 100km/h chime, give it a decent service, find a bigger TC06 or even a TD04/TD05 turbo and up the boost possibly with a front mount intercooler too. I have to do something to the suspension too as it is pretty boat-like

  14. What an epic nite! Ben passing out on the toilet then comaing on the driveway, spencer sitting in his chair with a drawn on hitler mistouche and then vomiting on himself, me goin to town and dancing spastically like a retard and loosing my house keys, then get home and kick down my locked room door just so I can get to sleep only to wake up in a couple hours to go to work. FUCK. good nite though, cheers to donna for the ride, spencer for the place to get OTJ, jarred for the first round of drinks and brad for the round of tequilas! So not going to be a happy chappy at work today.
  15. newtech = type of bog with metal shavings and glass fibres in it
  16. You keep finding heaps of problems with it.. one has to ask, did you even check it out before you handed over the keys to the cressy?
  17. All the mitsis I've seen rebuilt with ACL rings don't seem to smoke after they have been bedded in properly. It's important to follow ACL's instructions and not that of a haynes manual etc when it comes to running in.
  18. My only guess is the rings didn't get a chance to fully bed in before you took it off the road and let it sit for a while. Did you do a compression check yet?
  19. All 4G63s until 1992ish are 6 bolt flywheels. 4G32/37 is 5 bolt. 4G63 93 onwards (Evo 1 onwards) are 7 bolt.
  20. haha yeah fully.. had no idea it was sitting on the light glass until I saw the scratches on it afterwards Good old solid G-lant.
  21. Fuck that was an awesome nite big ups to you b-rad for the party. I wish I wasn't so sober and didn't have to go anywhere after.
  22. I think it is strange that they use the same head gaskets/headset but I guess its just the way it goes. The earlier 4G62 used a different headset though so I'm not sure what's up with that. I gave up on 4G62s after I had this happen to my GT Cordia 4WD: I doubt the 4G62 can be bored out to 85mm as the water jackets are pretty damn close to the cylinder walls as it is. Most you would be able to bore it out to is approx 82mm. Do you recall what the pistons had stamped on the top? Also do you have receipts or part number of the piston rings?
