  2. Might recognise this as Mutiny's before he got his 808... Must have bought this off him over 6 months ago, finally went and picked it up in the weekend. Looked fucking rat with all the lichen and moss and grime all over it, bit sad to see it go but after a good waterblast its come up way more solid than I was expecting, Theres actually very very little that isn't just surface rust. Gonna get it sandblasted back and then after I've etched and sealed it I'll get to work on the chassis. Plans are: Chassis: 4Linked rear end on adustable coilovers with a watts link shortened Hilux LSD S5 brakes on the rear and possibly the front (or VN commodore) Strenghtened chassis and cage 13bt front mounted Body: Respray in 2tone (probably 2 greys) Chrome hubcaps on front with whitewalls Bigass 15x10's or similar on rear with street legal rubber This is gonna be a long term project, no doubt about it, dont expect updates too speedily.
  3. Started building new motor for wagon. MA 2000cc block with mint bores painted bright red to match car New chromoly race rings/bigends/mains Alloy head cleaned up and ported High lift camshaft Intake manifold ported out 2" extractors into full 2" system with one bullet muffler and dumpy Havn't chosen carb yet New performance leads/plugs and heavy duty earthing straps 5 Speed Box! Got new anodised radiator catch tank with chrome fittings and oil breater filters etc, Might try hide some wiring. I wanna run an SC12 supercharger in a blowthrough configuration, At this stage I'll probably just put it back together with a single head gasket and no charger till I know exactly what I'm doing. Getting new shocks at some stage with shortened struts etc, should be fun till I scrape... Also put fusion 6.5"s in back and am putting my pioneers 6"s in the front footwells, got a flocked black dash cover thing too which looks mint. Already hearing people talking bout my car haha. "Seen that sick red wagon on the whitewalls and spitties bro" Naaaah.

    Cheers guys, Its kind of difficult to gauge as I'm building it on the cheap utilising any bargains that come along, I wanna build the chassis first so I think I'll just go hunt down a diff housing at this stage so I can get onto the 4link. Are all hilux diff heads universal? Can I just go get a cheap hiace housing and get a good lsd unit to fit it later?

    I'm not to sharp on this kind of stuff, can anyone tell me what ratio I should go for for a hilux LSD in a 13BT/S5 5speed ute with 4link and atleast 15x10's on the rear? I wanna drag it. Any advice appreciated

  8. Can anyone tell me how to convert to mech secondaries? Just started building a new motor from bottom up, Ported out the head and manifold today and tidied everything up. New rings etc. So at this point specs will be: Ported head. Ported intake manifold extractors through to a 2 inch system High lift cam Will probably plumb in an oil cooler So... How does this setup sound? SC12 or similar, mounted on the LHS alternator mounts for other cars, running single V belt to crankshaft pulley. Standard airbox welded up airtight running a standard paper element with an intake pipe made up to follow down to the SC? All I need to sort now is the carb. What type of webber would be best? I'd rather not go suck through. Oh...and I got a 5 speed..

  10. Yeah it had a shitty motocraft that disagree'd with me but I've got plenty around so I'll just whack a lucas in it. Fuck this though. Its completely fried the small body earthing wire but the wire still looks intact.
  11. Just did a bit of maintainence on my dirty old escort 1300 wagon. Chucked on a random Bosch GT40 coil I had lying around while I was at it. Thing is, is I just took it for a rip around the block. Probably no more than 3 minutes of running. Got home and I could smell something. The chassis earth right next to the battery seems to have fried itself and the negative terminal has tried to weld itself to my bonnet, leaving a nice big burn mark about the size of a 20c coin on both sides... Was I just unlucky and the leads given out or is it something to do with my new coil?

    Yeah I guess your right about the watts linkage I just could never get my head around the geometry of it. Shall get in touch with a certifier once I get the ute down here and get it to a solid state to start the build from. Hey thanks for the advice aye. Dane
  13. Just 14x7 garden variety performance spitfires aye. Most guys run 13x 7/8 inch ones but I got the 14's cheap. Not as much dish as I would have liked but they stick out far enough already. Cheers guys
  14. Old man got new camera. Pretty "snazzy". Painted wheels and put hubcaps with mazda wheels trims on my escort. Had to weld little bits of rod around the wheels for them to clip over. Took some better quality photos of my mazda, can only be assed loading this from 56k:

    Bought Mutiny's mazda 1000 ute ages ago and am hoping to finally get around to picking it up within the next month and starting the build. Figured I'd just turn it into a 3/4 chassis with 4 link and probably shortened hilux lsd. Going for a stage 2 13bt and probably series 5 box Aim of the game really is to make a street legal dragster while still looking mild on the outside. How hard is it to set up a watts linkage? looks pretty complicated to me. Should be able to make my own but I don't know how well I'd go with certs doing that.

    Whos got any good info on 4linking rear ends? Looks like alot of measurements and shit, I'm sure I could build my own though. Been told the panhard rods off DX rolla's work well as 4links and they are adjustable as well. Figure, go weigh front and back at weigh station to work out centre of gravity then just mathematic that shit till it works. Anyone know if I can get 4 link kits or anthing that would have the brackets and rods already? Anyone got experience with these? Got an old hotrodding guy who's done a few who's gonna give me a few tips along the way. Also are there any real regulations on tubs? with thicknesses of the tubs and whatever? Haven't got in touch with my cert guy yet but shall do. Also, is it better to try rebuild a car to standard spec to get it back in the system before I start cutting it up or can I just reg a modified, dead reg car fresh from cert with no problems?
  18. Gonna retry warrant tomorrow after I get my 2inch exhaust built in the morning. 2inch off extractors through one bullet and a dumpy. Will be fun driving it across town in the morning with only the extractors... Tidied engine, way more to do but painted cam cover in VHT "wrinkle plus" black, turned out pretty good. also did extractors in high temp white. Put cobra springs in the front to hopefully get wof, we shall see. Odd pic or two..
  19. Ha, shall have to have a crack then. Just got an insurance check yesterday under my parents house and contents for all the shit taken out of my car that wasnt bolted or wired in haha. Guy who did the most damage to me's got court today so I might even see some reparation. Shall most definately have a crack at it.

  22. Right. I'm suffering from a significant head injury which makes it acceptable to come up with silly ideas and also gives me the spare time needed to carry a few out. I Have A: 1800 OHC MA block motor in my 929, it is not very shiny and it is slow. basicly the same as an 1800 econovan/ courier motor Its on a jacto 3 speed which is actually a pretty good auto box so I'm not worried bout swapping it to manual. I want to make it go faster without absolutely fucking my fuel bills. I have 2inch extractors to go on and I've serviced it etc. If I was to make an MR2 supercharger fit on it what problems would I have? I dont want to hear about the air velocity coefficient of E=MC², I just want to hear if it'l work and whether the motor will go Bang. Its got a nikki 2 barrel on it at the moment which I dont really wanna fiddle with too much and a meaty sounding fuel pump (probably the same as an rx4 fuel pump) I was thinking I'd just fab up some bracketry to bolt the sucker on, find a belt and put in a larger radiator and oil cooler, better coil, leads and plugs, possibly port the head a bit if i'm feeling bored, tidy up valves and clearances and play with the timing. Would that cause any reason to make it pop? Cant be fucked putting money into it just thought I might have a crack for the hell of it.
