To put it in your escort your gonna need a T50 or K50, T50 to A or K50 to A bellhousing, new pedal box, AE86 Crossmember (or mounts welded to yours). Probably have to do something about the dizzy too (sticks into firewall stz).as well as heaps of other fidly shit. and hilux diff would be needed. Blacktop would shit escort diffs. Hilux diff == Shorten up + mount suspension. putting stupid escort hubs+ brakes on it would be a waste of time so youd have to run 5stud mags. it would probably cost you a good 5 to 6 hundy to get the diff shortened for the escort. probably better off with a Capri or a ford 9". i like lowlancers idea tho haha.

well to back up your dont like mixing manufactures claims, toyota gearboxes are made by Aisin-Warner... So its actually a Aisin warner gearbox. but Aisin are owned by toyota... haha. And if v8 cunts want manuals, they go with w57/8. so its not so much of an issue. i say use the w50. as you always say, budget, then double it. Im sure you will run into more difficulties the long way with the 57

what are you cunts on about. A series never came in a 2litre. highest is 1.5 If you want power, and want to keep it oldschool datsun (which you do coz datsuns rock) i suggest transplanting a L-Series in to it. 16 or 18. or L20B (2litre 4 banger not the L20 2litre 6banger). its not an easy transplant but its a shit load easier than SR or CA (these cunts say to put that engine in everything) You can also source Turbo diesel stz. Or you could go for a Z Series (L series crossflow with turbo and EFI) but its still a bit more hassle. i say L18, keep your twin 40s, new cam, port polish, you will have a flyer on your hands. and the E Series engines out of the Sunny turbo's are crap.

there is alot of strange combos like this out there i think it may have to do with the fact that alot of japanese Manufactures orginally based their engine designs off british ones. for example datsun A series engines were also based off BMC/Austin designs. hence the A designation. also, many engines use a common bore and stroke so other brands could fit.. A Simple google would tell you tho.

with the CA18DET most are RWD and out of early silvias S12 and S13 with teh SR20DET's most RWD are out of S14 and S15's so cost a bit more. can also get FWD ones out of P11 Primeras and a few other vehicles (GTiR Pulsar etc) but then there is teh added cost of converting it to RWD. SR20's would handle power more than the CA18 as the turbo version of the SR was built to be a turbo engine. the CA series was first introduced in the early 80s and the DET is the final engine. it had a serious upgrade from the orginal but the SR would be better to handle power. the CA started out as a SOHC engine. also i remember reading that Late SR20's arent the powerhouses that the early ones are. if your looking for power and strength then i suggest teh FJ20 but rember that they are gettin rare, expensive. and they are pretty damn heavy.
