  1. A little update. Just working on making it look a little more modern, colour coded the grille and re-did the eyelids and extended them along and around across the indicators.
  2. The Car As It Currently Sits At 10:04pm, Friday 16th September Back End Back 3/4 Angle Close Up Of Front Bumper - Factory Oil Cooler & Intercooler Peeking Out Frontal View - Nice F**king Big Spotties Too Note The Facelift Indicators Halfway Through Attacking The Door Rust Nice Semi Shiny Turbo Wheels Front & Side View Of Motor - Can Anyone Spot The Hidden Chassis Number? Interior Snazzy New Dash - More Gauges Than The Rest Of You (Note Mileage - Nearly 100,000!) Side View And thats it for now, tomorrow I'll hopefully be able to touch up the door primer, and spray the grille and fix the eyelids - colour coded paint By no means finished, will be a never ending project. But at least it's now driveable and I can enjoy it.
  3. Finally I have a Warrant, after some more fiddling with the brakes, and I actually got them to work better. Now I may have to get new rear calipers (sigh). Damn pistons don't work that well.
  4. Well, got the exhaust sorted out yesterday. Much quieter now, and won't attract as much cop attention. Took it for a warrant this morning... Coulda been worse. Required repairs: 1) Secure Bonnet Sound Deadening (factory thing, I just used washer to fixed where the holes were ripped) 2) Secure Front Grille (one clip broken, fixed with a cable tie) 3) RHR Seatbelt To Operate (stole one off the 45) 4) Lap Belt (was pushed down behind the seat, lazy mofo wouldn't get it himself) 5) Drivers Seat Insecure (being a two door, the front ones fold forward to allow access to the back, it just wouldn't click back into place right, bent the clips a bit and works good now) 6) Headlight Intensity Uneven (replace the bulbs) 7) Improve Brake Pedal (bleed the system some more) Steering Wheel Loose (tightened up obviously) 9) Secure Front Brake Hoses (just needed those little clips shoved on them 10) Secure Back Brake Hose (again a stupid clip) Will be going to see them tomorrow and hopefully will come home with a warrant. And shhhhhhhhhh, they don't know it's a swap and should be technically certified hehehehe.
  5. Well, finally......... IT RUNS! Bloody RPM sensor was broken, but fixed that and it now runs sweet as a bird Pics to come.
  6. KX6725 You might wanna cover the plates a bit better
  7. Check previous post for week before last weeks update. Last week (as in week just gone lol) Dash completed Really gotta do something with that stereo though! It's in! *sigh* Yes you unbelievers it's really in, no there's not any jacks holding the motor up! The remains of the actual turbo....... The old boat anchor Anybody wanna buy a Fiat Uno 45 motor. It goes mint! Weight reduction + Perfectly balanced car = Uno Hopper!!!!!!!!! And this will be my trophy. THIS is what remains of the oil filter after spending 4 hours trying to get the mother f**ker off cause some dumbass mechanic put it on too tight More updates to come. With any luck it'll go tomorrow!!!
  8. Another Update - Two posts for two weeks, last week: All propped up and ready to get a helluva lot lighter. Conemaster saying goodbye. Everything unboltable ..... well, unbolted. AYE!!!!! Some bastard (prolly black ) thiefed off with my wheels! Dodge au! Gimme back my wheels!!!! The pile of spare parts grows and grows......... YAY!!! It's out! Sorta....... Obligatory vandalism to rustbucket. RIP Buddy Turbo rear subframe in, hmmmmmmm - it's too high. Lets throw away the springs see how it looks. SLAMMED!!!!! New loom being routed. Further updates next post.
  9. You'll find it's in the dash. Thats where they most commonly cark themselves. Too advanced for their time
  10. Good luck with that!! Won't have a hope, thats why i kept my spare and I'm lucky I did because I had the same problem not so long ago. One of the main computer boards for it was shot. The cheapest replacement dash I could find was about 600 dollars + GST. Just add on an aftermarket temp gauge dude.
  11. Speaking from experience................................... The dashes are NOT easy to fix. They are real fucking bitches. Uses printed circuit boards and whatnot, and are very easy for them to get hairline cracks in the tracks. Would be helluva lot easier to get a new dash. As for the carb, might be just the auto choke sticking - try adjusting it so it comes off sooner. If it's running rich it'll be spewing black smoke. On the other hand, it could be running too lean because the chokes not working. And with regards to knowing about the engines in general, I own two 3Ys, and my dad used to own one so I'm pretty clued up about them. They're not a revver by any means, nor are they a powerhouse, but with proper care they'll do hundreds of thousands of kms. I've heard of them doing over 1,000,000km with just the regular servincing!! Nothing major done to them either. Mine has 270,000km on it, and is going like it had 000000ks on the clock, and my dads one had 350,000 on it when it was sold, and we still see it around today - we sold it some 6 years ago.
  12. Guides are fine, the seals are just a bit worn cause its blowing a bit of smoke and it aint the turbo, wrecker who sold it to me (deals on in unos and pandas) told me all about it. Just wanna stop it smoking and get it done so I can put the motor in. And yes it's SOHC
  13. Uno turbo motor needs the valve stems seals done, but whats the easiest way to do it without dropping the valves into the cylinder? And how do you get the spring compressed if the head is left in place.
  14. Cam - I'll give you a drag in the Uno when I'm done
  15. Update: Got the interior apart and loom and fuel tank out. Pics are from today and over the weekend. Philip getting pissed off at the camera The turbos interior as it used to be. With the snazzy instrument panel. Look at those pretty gauges What we had this morning. A crappy standard uno with a snazzy as fibreglass rear hatch and wing The nice new clean roof lining, with clock and map light at the front, and the new rear seats (door cards and rear quarter cards are trimed the same as the seat, not worth photographing) GOT RUST!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Ghetto Weight Reduction Stylings HI-HO SPAGHETTI-O!!!!!!!! Thats all for now, I have a couple more pics but nobody wants to see an exhaust pipe or a dusty fuel tank hehehe, Tomorrow should see the whole rear end being removed and maybe swapped onto the blue on. My sympathy to you poor bastards on 56K
  16. Well, the immense task ahead has officially been started The task - make my blue Uno go faster! And look good, and generally rice it up Recipe: Begin with - 1 1987 Fiat Uno Fire With 1 1.0litre, 4 cylinder, carby motor with a nasty 4 spd AND - 1 1986 Fiat Uno Turbo ie With 1 1.3litre, 4 cylinder, fuel injected, TURBO with a 5spd And stir , yes thats right. Motor swaps (along with everything else mecanical is about to be swapped ) Future posts will contain progress reports and photos (And yes, the room off to the left behind the silver turbo with the girl on the wall is mine, and to save you the trouble, its Carmen Electra, shes topless and in a thong 2 sizes too small ) Disclaimer, yes I do know this doesn't count as oldskool, but RTs Falcon is in here and it's the same year so there Discussion Thread: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/18963-muzzies-fiat-uno/?hl=fiat
  17. Whos engine hoist is that?? I needa find me one to borrow soon for my turbo conversion But cars looking good, I don't know that I'd call it Salmon though lol
  18. Having seen it in the flesh, I'm guessing not for a LONG time! i agree on that one
  19. They up yet? I wanna seeeee
  20. Looks like the wheels I have on my Uno
  21. That oddball wheel you got there, what you gonna do with it? Is the tyre any good?
  22. actually, theres a good poll thread
  23. Carb and manifold, plus the linkages, then theres the problem of fooling the efi computer to get around all the bullshit sensors lol
  24. Even when they are being a pain in the ass and icing up all the goddamn fucking time!
  25. Hmmmmmmm, might be worth investigating then Would it use much more gas? Or a truck load?
