hey, if i was just gonna use a pinto 4speed gearbox on my 1600 xflow could i just change over the clutch plate because my flywheel has already had some weight loss so i want to keep it

so do you reckon you could just change over the clutch plate?? btw the standard escort(type 2) one is 7/8 x 20 and the type E and type 9 one is 1 inchx23

damn 7psi is alot isnt it? i suppose your cars a drag car though, in the burton catalogue it says that I should need no more than 4psi. I was looking at maybe getting a facet silver top pump which is 4.0-4.5psi

actually dvlrcr it would be the opposite of what you said. Normally it would changeat 2.5 but with overdrive it would hold in gear longer so it would change at 4

are your sure its not a 1600 one? could just be a standard 1600sport carb

fuel pump? well i just got a done up 1600, do you think a standard fuel pump will pump enough or do you reckon i should get an uprated one. The guy who i bought it off was running an uprated one so the hole where the standard pump goes has a plate covering it

yea i need to replace those too but hopefully it will last until i get an electronic ignition

well i found my vacuum advance almost isnt working at all so that explains alot

what fuel pumps do you guys use?? standard or performance, also does anyone use a fuel regulator? im thinking of using an uprated pump on my 1600 xflow

i think it would be very hard to properly flare a 4dr, the back door is so close to the rear arch that it would hard to put gaurds on, even those bolt on ones would be very hard

yea i think its nothing allowed on the front, 35% driver and front passenger windows and rear window, and you can pretty much blank out everything else

i used davies and naylor on church street, 150 for the car and they cut the backs ones by 10mm and rolled the front gaurds

if you mig it you'll just need to hold it somewhere where it wont be able to warp

yea i dont think there was any 2.6's but a 2.3v6 from a cortina wouldnt be too hard to find but all 70-80 ford v6's arent very tuneable and performance parts are hard to find unless you find a cosworth 2.8 v6 but very doubtful in nz. also, v6's are pretty heavy

nah i dont have a 2l carb and ive had a little play around with the carb but that seems to be working fine, of course my car still doesnt like idling when its cold but otherwise seems ok

i have a standard 1300 engine but when the engine is cold and you put on the gas it has a distinctive clicking sound and it almost stalls the engine(very rarely it does), my boss told me that it may be a broken distributor or sometihng like that. sometimes all you just have to tap the gas and it does it but other times you just have to accelerate really slowly to avoid it. also when i put the pedal to the metal all the car does it sound drowned before slowly accelerating again, im not sure what this is...this occurs even when the engine is warm. thanks
