  1. how hard is it to change to rack and pinion in a mk2 cortina?
  2. need to enlarge tunnel, it has different mounts, need to move the gearstick hole back, have driveshaft shortened or use a automatic driveshaft, get a new clutch/flywheel assembly, need 5 speed starter motor and not too sure about the speedo cable and reversing cable, probably something else i missed
  3. yeah there was 2 width and height sizes and 4 or 5 height sizes
  4. yea something like that, its 228 x 135mm and 45mm high
  5. does the wof man have to know you have one? guy i know with a valve just has it hidden up under the dash, you would never think to or look there
  6. another thing is that you will probably need the extended U-bolts too becuase (snells told us this) the thread must be at least 15mm from the end of the bolt when it is done up to get a wof that cost $65
  7. thanks, cost 220+gst to get it lowered and made 25% harder with the extra leaf i think, mine cost 260+gst so not 100% on that price but something like that. kings cost 210 inc courier from bmwsparkle, he had them specially imported for me and were the only pair in the country, theyre 4cylinder capri springs, took about 1.5 hours to do mostly by myself, reasonably easy just heavy and i dont think i'll shorten my shocks unless something happens when i get a wof but should be alright
  8. ive just ordered some stuff form burtonpower.com. A pair of wilwood 4 pots with pads that are direct replacement for m16 calipers. A set of silicone hoses for water with stainless steel clips. An 80mm tacho oldschool style. A genuine K&N chrome filter, a couple of books and a video. and 2 1600gt badges. I think thats it so should be here before christmas, thinking about getting some adjustable strut tops added to the list as the are quite alot cheaper than in nz to my belief.

sorry yeah i was looking at the manifold, not paying attention. easiest way to get rid of the chokes is just to take off the flaps, you'll just have to put your foot on the gas until you warm up

  15. go check out woolf mufflers on dominion road, they have a 2 litre mk1 escort in their front window
  16. I decided to lower my car by 2 inches, so it now has 45mm lower springs king springs for a capri in the front and the rear now has 6 leaves instead of the standard 4, 1 for 25% harder and the other for anti tramp(unnecessary, but oh well as I dont/wont have the power to need it particualrily) and the rear is also lowered 2 inches king springs courtesy of bmwsparkle, thanks alot Finished product, first drive there was a very noticable difference in handling, alot better. Sticks to the road so well now and no tyre squeel as you corner quickly and almost no body roll, very awesome Now to think about the engine...or should i put some new seats in first... Getting the rear leaves reset cost me 350 total(inc u bolts) in the end for a 45mm drop, 1 leaf for extra hardness and 1 for anti tramp. Also had to get some custom U-bolts made 3/4 inch longer than standard as the old ones wouldn't fit, I tried getting them from other places but they told me that cars need special strengthened ones and told me to go to snells springs to get them...same place as I had the leaves done. But im still glad I opted for reseting rather than blocks as im not looking for a cool look with no performance increase plus it looks better when you look under the car. old height

  19. is that the tacho on the right side? thats awesome
  20. a guy i know who has a race escort runs a 4.1, he has run most ratios and a lsd falcon diff but he said that the 4.1 is the best and that a falcon diff is too heavy and probably excessive anyway
