  1. 14.3 nothing to sneeze at out of an old straight 6. i think my GTR would have gone well into the 13s with some better tyres and some 3.5 diff gears only had 3.08 single spinner you can guess what that was like was in the process of fitting vn lsd disc brake diff when the decision to sell was made. wish i never did. do you know what yours weighs mine weighed 1060kg with me in it me=90kg. was a fair bit lighter than stock with vn motor i think 2drs are a bit lighter than a 4dr too. they are awesome sleepers and running low 14s youd scare plenty of jappas and hsvs did ya check out my old mk2 corty? that was a beast should have been an easy 12sec car . motor was a bit of a gerenade though had trouble keeping the crank in it . used to suck the sump dry when reved over 6000 used to spin easy to 7500. spun the bearings twice . it had over 300hp on engine dyno. got the shits with the probs i was haveing sold it and brought my current ride a 69 fairlane. bone stock cruza no stress. keep us posted on ya beast. dave
  2. looks cool dude i luv these old torries wish i still had mine these blue/black motors respnd well to forced induction too. your already half way there with efi. check out my old one on cardomain click the top link below
  3. yep thats exactly right. i think a cert on a scratch built car like a hot rod or kit car is over a grand
  4. yep bundy stokes is real good. what the cert costs depends on the extent of the mods. my corty for example was gonna be $700 from him but was a full cert engine/box/diff/brakes etc. sumthin like a gearbox swap might only be $150. i have a drive shaft loop for sale if any one wants one $100 plus frieght
  5. Tis good for a perv at skanks , dirty old man stz haha my thoughts exactly i only live 2 blocks away but will cruze down in the lane gangsta sty lz
  6. the size is correct as it was shorter than stock because he had deep dish wheels it also has discs. just mini tub the esky and fit sum 8-9 rims would look phat
  7. heads up guys the dude i work with the one with rthe 10sec rx 3 has his old 8in for sale its just under 1300mm wide and has either 3.5 or 3.7 head in it[i scored the 4.11s that were in it] he wants around $400 for it any takers?
  8. ill be goin to pukeora dont normally go to te onepu as its on sat. me=work. ill be keen for a cruise down lee ,cazza, james?
  9. haha we got a chariot as a family hack its 4wd and wouldnt even do a skid on diesel and if ya tryed a doughy itd tip ova its like a preggo rollaskate
  10. i wouldnt have thought that the quaife LSD and esky axles would have got anywhere close to 350hp . arnt they only made for rally cars fast road cars etc. even 350hp is at the very top end of what a pinto could make
  11. my mate from M+T here sponsered some gear and was goin to be a judge sounds like they were goin to pay the venue after the event. the owner must have thought no one was gonna turn up and asked for the fee up front. thus ensueing arguement name calling etc. most venues are paid for in advance so at least they get some money for closing down for the day if no one shows
  12. why not just use the hilux one u have?
  13. yeah thats what most of the guys from my hot rod club do then ya only paying for basic shortining and do the fiddly setting up work yaself for free
  14. dont know exact but i would think that a falcon BW78 would be very close to a hilux and anything later than xf will be disc too
  15. some of the higher spec cars would have had a LSD but it all depends on what option box was ticked when the car was ordered new. factory units are very rear. they are a little lighter than a 9in prolly inbetween that and a hilux. they are a good diff but are gettin pretty old . a toyota is prolly the best of weight/power handling but prices for second hand units is pretty dear
  16. most of the pros use a thick bar with cones on the end which locate thru the axle bearing shells and in the middle thru the diff head bearing shells this holds the housing straight with all the bearings perfectly in line
  17. this event was not organised by 'rotorhavok' but by the napier based 'rotorholics' club the guy from u-drive is a dick but they never had 30 cars they were lucky to have 10. how many HB based rotors have u seen at previous events. FUCK ALL they are all shitters and drop kicks and most of them wouldnt know a fast rotor if it fell on them
  18. the only thing about DIYin it is u have to get the housing PERFECTLY straight . even a few thou out and u will be foreva replacing bearings and the spider gears take a real hammering when side loaded from the axle
  19. yip that is one. ford 8 inches came out in 64-66 mustang 6cyl and 289 v8 as well as early 70s mavericks and 62-65 'compact' fairlanes. NO falcon ever came out with an 8in. all parts are available though a little more expensive than a 9in. u can get ratios from 2.5 to 6.1 from summit racing in the states for about $5-600 depending on currancy at the time. ive just sold my last head for $100[shit bearings] but u can get a good head with a reasonable ratio from $2-500 [rich got a good deal] LSDs are available but cost is high. these diffs will handle all the grunt any of us are eva gonna make. so dont be fooled into thinking u need a big $ set up when u only have 300hp a borg warner lsd or hilux or B2000 will do almost all without problems

    escort lsd

how cum ya want a 4.7 ratio ? thats supa low ud b doing about 4200@100ks
  21. did the same conversion on my mk2 cort used toyota celica/soarer vented rotors and volvo 4 spots . just had to make adapter plate to centre disc and drill to mount and slot mounts for volvos offset was perfect even with no booster it pulled up hard cost about $500 all up incl new mast cyl and all new lines.
  22. sorry bro thought it was 5spd. yeah th700 are cunts. best trick is to undo bolts from back first and slowly lower the back down draining oil as u go. its fuckin messy. when u get pan off take it to an engineer an get him to weld a drain in it. i did that on my torana just makes it alot cleaner. dont forget to change the filter too. dont do bolts up too tight otherwise u will squash the cork gasket and it will leak thjere are some new rubber ones out there just ask around for best advise

    Pinking

yeah i have same prob with 351w in the fairlane is heaps better with vac adv disconected. what cam u have also plays a part in your comp ratio. a cam with alot of duration will bleed compression low in the rev range effectivly reducing your comp ratio. when we built the motor for the corty we had set everything up for 10.5 -1 comp we put a 600thou lft and 310dur cam in it and it ran like a pig . took it back to engine builder and check comp at cranking speed had almost no comp as the valves were open so long and with lots of overlap. we shaved another 30thou off heads. and it gave enough comp off cam to make it run half decent. if u had a true 13-1 comp it would just about b pinking at idle on our shitty pump gas. the corty had true 10.5-1 only ran good on pure av or alright on 50-50 av/petrol mix
