    Compressed Springs

    as soon as you heat any spring the metal looses its properties that it had whe it was made(it would be better than a std one but not good), it is bloody hard to get them to ride well once they have been compressed

  5. i am about to put a 2t-geu into a kp60 starlet, i am going to run it with twin solex sideys, what i was wondering is what size fuel pump to use? or what model car to get one from?

    sweet, ill head down to my junk yard tommorow and try and find a 2t dizzy, and as for the emmisions stuff ill definitly bin it, but what exactly am i looking for to get rid of?

    hey i have just been given a 2t-geu, but the comp is stuffed, and so is the distributor, i have some solex sideys for it, what i was wondering, if i use the sideys can i get away with using an older 2t distributor with points? its going into a kp60 starlet

    yeah thats what i thought but the other day when i was gassing up, this guy came up to me and was asking me if i knew anything about gettign spindles from another model so i thought i would ask about, just for a cheaper option ive already got prices from some shops, some shops even have an off the shelf item to do it for common models
  17. you could try but i know most exaust shops will be able to get intake manifolds aswell, and for about 200bucks its prolly easier than pissing around unless you want somin real custom

    yeah i have the number for a shop in oz that make them bolt striaght in, 600bucks a pair plus postage, but then i heard about using another models axels which i thought would propally be cheaper yeah the 383 is a stroked out 350 chev still small block and yeah it does look pretty good been that low
  19. it cost me 65bucks for 2 new keys an ignition barrel and one door barrel to be reconed, on the side of the door barrel there is a code if you can get that code they can recut you a new key for about 10bucks, that may be enough if the barrels arnt fucked, but if you can start it with another key they most likly are
  20. im aware that price does not mean they are crap, but it does make them more expensive for parts, and from my own experinces with them, they got out of tune way quicker and are harder to tune, maybe im just more familia with webbers so could get them going better or somin.

    it has a 253, soon to be replaced with freshly built 383, and curently has custom springs that lower it so the cross member is about 60mm off the ground, but they hit the bump stops all the time, so by using drop spindles(axels) and a slightly higher spring it can be just as low if not lower but still give a nice ride without slamming into the bump stops

You've got it sweet if you have a choke i seem to never have that function, one of those things i just never get round to fixing, it doesnt mae the car go faster so no point:) my usal start method is turn key pump once in and out and then back in a nd hold it flat, till it fires then off and a couple of pumps then if needed. the key been able to come out just means that the barrel and/or the key is worn out and prolly can be started with anything that fits in the barrel, not really a problem tho, just goto you local locksmith with your barrel and key and they will be able to recon them hope that helps
  23. try a can of easy start(can buy it from repco, its basicly CRC) spray it in your carbie before you fire it over and it will help, i had to do that everytime i wanted to start my high comp 5k in the cold
  24. and you dont want to put sidies on a std engine, it will run like a bag a shite, and fowl up you plugs real quick, you need other mods like high compresion, and to get the most out of your sidies definitly need big ports in you head(port matching), ive built a couple of quick k series engines, PM me if you want more details
