  1. ok so you can just cut bumpstops in struts aswell? i just "trimmed my old ones in the rear of my hatch to get it sitting where i wanted, but never taken a strut apart so wouldnt know how they work aye
  2. sweet new discs is a good idea was thinking bout that would have to get the old ones machined anyways and metal king pads are the go you reckon? will just ring up the suspension place about shocks and see what range they have then ask you fellas how do i go about getting them shortened etc and not hitting bumpstops not sure what the dealio is with front shocks/struts only used to rear gas units and external bumpstops
  3. sweet looks like im picking up a set of starion front struts form a fellow forum member apparently i have to change front arms to sigma/starion as well and the knuckles, not a problem as he has the knuckles and i can get a set of lower arms am i going to end up with a bit of extra negative camber?not a bad thing at all just curious also what are shocks like to get for the starion front stuts?the guys on austarion seem to have trouble finding replacements anyone here had to get any? and what sorta pads should i be getting?
  4. so shoot me eke_zetec_RWD nah man pulleys arent done just sitting on there so the alt could be in the semi right position for the plumbing so it easnt in the way id like to run the multi rib belts so going to try get a custom one made depending on price for those who care specs so far: vr4 4g63 l200 box excedy h/d clutch td05 big16g turbo 38mm tial external wastegate greddy type r bov 450x330 fmic hilux diff and link g3 to come plus suspenison mods

    cheers the thminiman will go talk to them isnowi are you able to get your inlet manifold done up with your pipe inplace? im running the cyclone manifold which seems to be quite a bit busier than your n/a one me either keen to give it a try, but would modify the water galleries so the front ones are smaller and rear larger like on zerog, but would rather go stock way if i can make it work not sure if i can get an outlet in the rear with my water pipe back there so i may have to remove it anyways was alos planning on a couple of small holes in termo to help with the water in the pipe flowing through so heat can transfer to the thermo on start up

    yea man have done exactly that is all fitted up but i just need to align the pulley ive allready put it in a press, the alingments good but its stretched the metal and warped it so its not flat fuel yea, ive been asking about that stuff on austarion recently something i want to try but not 100% confident it will be sweet i no the pipe at the back will work so if i can get it to fit i will run it that way just dont know where to put my pipes and thermohousing

    where would i get a custom pulley made?engineers? need to change the offset of my vr4 waterpump one by like 15mm so it lines up with the others

  11. as pressure increases, flow decreases ive been pondering this same thing with my lancer dont really want to run new lines but if i need to i will mine are feed 6mm I/D and return 4mm I/D ontopic thread hijack ftw

    oh true? i thought the were the business? are they just good in tight spaces where you cant fit a cone one etc? i spose if i get him to put one of thes one i can always get a k and n cone one later on as it would be similar size might grab one of these then?
  14. hey anyone no anything bout these good, bad etc have bought 2 hks mushroom filters now and both were meant to be 3 inch inlet but one was 2 1/4 and the other was 4 there like 180 brand new need to get a filter asap so the guy can make up my intake and he said he can get these one s cheapish and there easy to get this sorta style http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 875130.htm
  15. all water cooled turbos i have seen run there cooling water after it has left the block, its going to be a 80 degrees plus anyway aslong as you have a oil cooler your turbo will be fine but as said you may need to make sure you do regular oil changes but if your not doing that anyway id be suprised factory cars water cool there turbos because joe average is lazy with oil changes, warming down etc theres no harm in watercooling it but it is definately not essential
  16. yea im not running water lines on my vr4 conversion, with evo turbo alot of mitsi guys dont bother is a common thing not to run them general consenses is that they are there to help cool it the turbo down on shutoff etc, so aslong as you dont run your car hard as hell then shut it down quickly youl be fine, some say get a turbo timer others say just dont boost it hard for a few minutes before you stop driving while the car is running the oil does most of the cooling some garret ballbearings dont even come with water lines depending on the model

  18. magical box pictures ftmfw yea as everyone else saying need uprgraded fuel pressure etc thats easy tho just get a nice fuel pump which you would need anyway and a rising rate reg for it, would only need to go up to like 15psi (if you ran a max boost of round 10psi, which would be fuckin heaps) anyways id say and run a bigger carb like a weber etc cos it will need extra fuel one off a cortina etc would work mint id say
  19. what he said ^^ someone in town maybe able to mod the factory carb to be airtight and work (i.e not leak) ,but easiest option ive seen people do is the box have seen this done on a toyota engine will post pics when i can there on my comp at home not sure what you fill the floats with cos ud have to amke sure it would sit the same as with air in them with suck through, dunno how well that would work with supercharge on it only ever seen turbos?assume its the same dealio though plus su carb suck through setups are crap mate had a turbo 4k with one and it was
  20. yea coilovers would be awesome unfortunately they are way over my budget at the moment had budgeted max of 2gs for my whole suspension setup including shocks springs and bushes coilovers and mean brake upgrade can come later once car is on road and i can sort them out slowly
  21. im in chch wev got a place here that makes customs etc yea caboon u said urs was sweet but by the time i buy aftermarkets and chop them etc i may aswell just get customs that will be sweet and exactly as i want will be having a hilux lsd whats the benefit of sigma front struts? am i not able to get good inserts for the lancer struts? are the kybs gas exels a good shock how much a corner are they roughly?
  22. time has come for me to start worrying about suspension in my lex ancer now ive lowered plenty of cars before and know what i want from the lancer etc but i need to get a bit of tech advice as for once i not only want a car that is nice and low but i want it to handle better and be a pleasure to drive doing the obvious getting full nolatahanes throughout and have sourced a larger sigma front sway bar to put in the info im interested in is spring rates and shocks, up untill now ive benn a compressed springs and brand new cheapy shocks man will be getting 4 custom springs all round, only way ill get it as low as i want plus gives me decent scope to help put my power to the ground so what sorta spring rates shold i be asking for etc?front and rear dfferent or what? will be mainly street car, but will definately see track and strip work will be on 17s also what brand/style of shocks etc? im not interested in spending thousands but happy to pay a decent price for something better than munroes also would i benefit from getting a custom strut brace?
  23. front wheels bo3 not rear yea it will be out of balance wheels most likely check they are not wearing unevenly, had it happen on a car i bought new tyres but had bad wheel alingnment and the front to got shagged on the inside fast as so put them out of balance
