  1. Im not aware of any bikes that are designed to be shifted without a clutch. However theyre pretty forgiving, if you just bang it through even without rev matching it will go with no noise(just not quite as smooth) If I owned the gearbox Id use a clutch though.
  2. Meet up somewhere and cruise out together?
  3. Looking good. This was the other thing I had in mind if I didnt get a midget. Reckon they look mean like yours.
  4. Im keen. Have a spareseat if someone wants to roll in style
  5. Yes agreed. 240s would be one of the few older jap cars that gets close to having the same support though...at least amoung english speaking sellers
  6. The wheel and gearknob were on last night but the other bits only arrived today so there wouldnt have been much to see anyway. Can get new parts easy as, can almost build an entire new car, even body shells are available. Second hard parts are harder to get though compared to Datsun stuff...especially since most people with MG parts arnt likely to frequent the sites I go to Guessing you got away ok last night, probably rather lucky considering
  7. More minor changes: New grille badge New Reverse Light lenses. Compared to the Datsun its so mint actually being able to buy parts. Relatively cheap too...postage is more than most of the parts cost Comparison of lenses
  8. First mods: Momo Super Indy wheel I previously had on my Datsun Autotechnica Boss - As with every Autotechnica one Ive had it didnt fit properly, unfortunately Momo dont make a Midget one. Wooden Gear Knob previously on my dads MGB Before After
  9. We making this a regular thing? This week?
  10. Ideally id like 13x5.5 but the ones Im after only come in 13x6 so thatll have to do. Stock is 13x4.5 Not much else will fit, minis are the same PCD but different offset. Some Vauxhalls eg Chevettes are the same but when was the last time you saw some 5.5" wide Chevette mags that looked good.
  11. PCD is same as mini, dunno what 1100s are though. Wont be selling them anyway, they can sit in the corner incase anyone wants to put them back on oneday.
  12. Sweepstake on how long pies owns this for?
  13. Not a chance for 6.5...Think Ill have to give the 6s a go though. At worst ill end up with a $1200 set of wheels that are worth $500 and totally useless to me
  14. Yeah Ive seen his KE30. Alot quicker than the J but a very different style. Ive told him about it before, hes not online much and dont really do the forum thing.
  15. Given I didnt have any involvement in building it Im not sure exactly. All I know is bores were taken out 20 thou He bought a stuffed race engine and used the head off that Even though the cam I sold it with had only about 1000ks on it he replaced it with a hotter one. He hasnt had it dynoed but copied the spec of one out of a book (David Visard style book but have no idea who actually wrote it) which was making 160hp atw. Only difference is Damian is still running the twin 40s which I had on it and the one in the book had 45s Apparently on the 40s it runs out of fuel at the top of the rev range however it runs so sweetly through the rest of it hes reluctant to change them.
  16. Well just to finish this thread off. I sold this in August 2007 and it now resides in Dunedin Since then the car has had the motor rebuilt (and hotted up alot more). Turns out the motor that I bought as being rebuilt had been, however itd been done by a complete muppet *Top rings in upside down and cracked *7 thou of slop in the bores *New bearings on a worn crank *Bog fixing a hole in the timing case Its also had the gearbox rebuilt Had to be raised 30mm at the rear to get a cert as it was on the bump stops which has also removed alot of the negative camber. Plus some other tidying up that I never quite go around to. Heres some photos of the new engine:
  17. To replace the thread I had in the General area heres the build thread. Not that much building will be happening but anyway. The car is a 1970 MG Midget Mk III. Bought with genuine 87,000 miles from the original 80yo owner. 1275cc putting out a massive 65hp Luckily it only has to pull 680kg Also came with a fibreglass hardtop. Its in good condition but the paint has crazed so Ill have to get it redone. And one to show off the water beading Have a few plans for it but nothing too major. Its too original for me to hack it around. But Ill still make it handle abit better and look abit nicer. In its current form its easily the most fun car Ive ever driven. Its particularly slow and its handling limit is easily breached but once it croses it its amazingly controllable.
  18. Amazingly Pies van is shorter than the Midget. Trumpy is looking mean with masses of negative camber. By far largest ever turnout for a thurs night
  19. People with 4wds usually want to convert to live axles rather than the other way around
  20. Ill be leaving here about 9. Play it by ear after that
  21. All good, everyone always does...its like the movie not the amunition Lot of fun, no mishaps, lots of revs the whole way
