  1. Twin charging did cross my mind but I'd have to build a strong engine and run 30lb of boost to make it worth it
  2. I'm just gonna post some pics of ideas for the car so I have a quick reference to foam over.
  3. We may end up doing all three. It would be good to do a diesel and a petrol. The red one is 3 on the tree
  4. Chat about the large volume rust, diesel smoke, and misfortune in the build thread
  5. Even though the sills are missing in this car it runs and drives so I think this will be the first in the road as long as @- i5oogt - lets me have it. The thread will mainly focus on Reddy the Ceddy.
  6. So to prove Datsun reliability we tried to get the red petrol Cedric running. Battery, oil pressure check, fuel, and ......
  7. Long story short I went for a ride in Karl's turbo diesel 260c and wanted one. We stopped past a paddock of rusty cars on the way home from Hanmer where he said there was a diesel 260c just waiting for a turbo. The car cemetery was just down the road from my mum's place so over the next few weekends we dragged out several Cedrics and R30 skylines and moved them to there. Picture time Discuss Here
  8. shit that reminds me. The cert guy put the crowns trans down as 3speed auto not 4 speed. need to ring him tomorrow.
  9. Yeah looking for smometing to replace te lights on my Mk2 golf. Got a rock though one the other day. The correct h4 hella unit is shit and expensive. Thought LED might be cool.
  10. ah, that would pay to check. assuming RHD ones are available are they an acceptable replacement for sealed beams.
  11. are these legal here? http://www.ebay.com/itm/LED-Lamps-For-Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-1970-78-H4-Headlight-Bulb-Conversion-/362084037998?fits=Make%3ADatsun&hash=item544de3f56e:g:~AUAAOSwDKpZpD4D&vxp=mtr
  12. I'm not seeing any updates Jesse. You should have the car rebuilt by now. Harry got the lada sedan today. It will probably donate its engine/trans to the wagon as it has a functional clutch and has an extra 100cc. The empty sedan shell could be a candidate for tang and desprang
  13. I've got a VW 1.8t in the garage. They're good for 350hp on stock internals. You might have fun with finding a RWD manual box that fits though. It would be easier to make it run ok with stock setup and think about mods after it's been registered.
  14. Haven't tried yet but the lack of injectors says to me it might be stuck. One of the R30s might donate its engine or Karl has another Cedric with an LD that might run.
  15. Nice work jesse. @JustHarry got the 2104 he dragged out running on Sunday with a bit of fresh fuel. Clutch is fucked though. If you need help with Revin give me a yell as I've done it a couple times. It would pay to get a receipt from Charlie as proof of ownership.
  16. best way to test the booster is to pump the brake pedal a few times with the engine off then hold your foot on the brakes and start the engine. if the booster is working then your foot will sink a bit as the booster applies more brakes. also with the engine at idle quickly push and release the pedal once. if the revs change then there is a leak internally and the booster is naf. To me it sounds like the slow circuit in the carb has a blockage or restriction. probably needs a good clean.
  17. can't run mud tyres or fiddler brakes. They pretty much limit you to pre 1960 stuff that road cars came factory with.
  18. So the short version of this story is my brother and I compete in a vintage sporting trials event every year. Our car is a 1926 Pontiac. The problem is the car is big and heavy and we have to get creative as far as making it competitive against the likes of Austin 7s. Unfortunately in the rules you're not allowed to run a welded or limited slip diff. So has anyone got a good plan to make the spider gears function less. I was thinking of putting really thick oil in it or Penrite steering box lube.
  19. You too. I've been off work today due to some fucker passing their disease on.
  20. @brocky41 adblue is mainly urea which reacts with NO and NO2 resulting in it being broken down into N2 and O2. It also makes the exhaust smell even worse.
