Agreed, when I was researching this years ago the CG10/CG13 was head and shoulders above any other recommendation. I never liked the VTec jobs, you ended up with a mini where the front track was so much wider than the back plus a mate tried one in Upper Hutt and said with the insane torque steer it was downright dangerous.
Another plus is that the Nissan job requires no changes in the engine bay as far as the side wings are concerned, everything else needs a decent level of hackery.
Who knows, I might go back to a mini project once I get Sierra wagons out of my system. I collected a bunch of photos from the webs of the swap which I've still got somewhere if that would help.

You might want to dial that back about 20% there......

Well, its been a while......Stepped back a bit while changing jobs, ignoring toxic covid shit (from both sides) and being busy over summer.
So since the last update, Clio the Sierra (Cos you should always name your cars) has done tonnes more km's and only disgraced herself a few times. Highlights included:
- While coming home from another business trip to Cromwell hitting 130km plus coming down the Waitaki valley with a strong tailwind.....before running out of testosterone.
- Driving home from Blenheim in full cyclone conditions; 7 hours of white knuckle grip on the wheel, huge ponds of surface water, aquaplaning and full 3 second whiteouts from passing trucks.
- Still being the best tradie vehicle I've ever owned.
And then....warrant time! <GULP!> I gave her a good clean, checked everything over, lit some incense on several different altars.......and then on the drive over had a quiet word to her (as you do) promising multiple upgrades if she was a good girl and didnt end up costing too much....
CLEAN SHEET!!! OMG!!!!!!!
So, now its my turn to uphold my end of the bargain. About to go shopping for some new shocks/wheels while thinking about an exhaust upgrade (less tractor noises). Maybe some new paint. Who knows, I'm feeling so thankful she could ask for anything at the moment and I'd say yes...

My pick for an investment car (shudder) would be something like a mk4/5/6 Golf Gti (I think, I don’t know my Vw’s too well)
Lots of the younger crowd seem to be into them and there seems to be an abundance of cheapish performance parts available.
That coupled with the amount of people putting stupid burble, backfire pop bang tunes on them which can’t be healthy (feel free to prove me wrong) and the reliability of those cars in general would make a tidy one hard to find in a few years. My choice would be the 5, great styling, goes quick etc. Might one day have one in my driveway once the current Teutonic Hatch goes west (a 5 TSI).
Saw an article where a guy drove all the GTI's to compare and said the 5 and 7 were the best of the bunch.

I have plenty of dr200 ones and, some gn250 ones
Maybe I should have explained that a bit more......to my eyes, the A100 handlebars lead to a very "upright" sitting position, I'm looking for something a bit lower (cafe racer ish). Not sure if the dr or gn ones would help?

Anyone got any recommendations for motorcycle wreckers in Chch? After a pair of handlebars for the A100 that dont look as retarded.
Left to rot.....

Some other shots taken from trains got me thinking.....
This group of 3 Chargers are on the mainline south out of Oamaru. Were looking reasonably tidy when I went past about 10 years back, now look like they are getting seriously cheesed.
