  1. So, the China muffler fell off the exhaust that @Geophy welded perfectly. China decided welding isn’t really important after nutts to butts with@GuyWithAviators over the road from Hicks bay to Te Araroa. 2 up’s with @64vauxhall today was amazing. The top gear style ‘fail bike’ was a Yamaha Vity 125 4 stroke twist and go. Because the gyro soft seized about 4 separate times within 50km, he’d been riding it since yesterday. When we discovered the muffler situation it was about 9pm, the lifan ran like shit with the straight pipe and @Raizer was only 200km away. We bottomed out the Vity to the East cape light house, Tolaga Bay which is where @Raizer had ridden to meet us and escort us into the big city. Dinner had the local upside down b enthusiast, bunches of kids, their parents, the Chinese shop owner and basically 94% of Gisborne audibly frothing at the bung hole for small bikes. I had @GuyWithAviators nutts my butts on the mighty Let’s II and the Chaly again as we sparkled down the beach side. We’ve passed countless cops and about 3 or 4 police stations. At worst we get a wave, at best we get videoed by the policeman’s wife out he window. Overall this is amazing, tomorrow is the hardest day yet. Over 200kms and an awesome natural rock water slide along the way, heaps of gravel too. I have work at 6am Monday. Let’s see if I make it.
  2. @Vintage Grumble or @johnnyfive or someone, is that rock slide out the ways we’re heading? It’s gonna be hot as fuark. Just pondering out loud.
  3. I have all of the excites. Sorry if I left none for ya.
  4. What legends. I hope we bump into them! Here we are worrying about semi reliable Japanese bikes and these dudes are taking BSA’s etc. They’re more keen than I am.
  5. I went through about 3 liquor stores before one sold me an empty crate; and they did so for $4.50. You could try that? Also does this mean we don’t have to pretend we’re not there while you video call like we had too in raglan?
  6. Turn the lights off and everything should run sweet. Also. Come regardless because 2up is a thing.
  7. Also are we expecting to ride at night very much? Just sorting the ol’ lighterooos. They’re dim as fuark.
  8. Just doing some rider practice with @RevDWC. See you boys in less than 48 hours.
  9. Finally found a swappa crate for the bike. A few mods and it’s ready to go!
  10. Earlier the better. Raglan ride was meant for kick off at 9; 1 hour later we left. Also is yours where vehicles and trailers are left for the weekend or what’s the best thing to do there?
  11. DX mail use 125’s I’ll have you know. The 250 is reserved for mighty warriors only. @mk2marty there is a 300cc kit for these from aliexpress with varying degrees of success. These bikes are huge in South America, I’m in a Facebook group with GN250’s only. A few people have done it, seems some don’t upjet it, run it lean and sieze it. Where as some install them and have no issues, I imagine they tune the kit properly etc etc. Check this group out and keep us posted on the skids! SUZUKI GN250 CLUB page. Never saw an update from that last dude. Seems to be hit and miss with the kit. I say do it!
  12. Does anyone have a decent tow rope that could be used between two bikes? Nope, not joking.
  13. This is not just a bike swap meet. But the location is also a: Brewery/Bar/Dumpling house! Rising tide is an epic place. They brew some incredible beers. I have no idea who’s putting this on but I saw the poster in Mount Fish and Chip Shop. Come hang, see photo for beer info:
  14. Wooooo! @Shakotom, @GuyWithAviators and I won’t be the odd ones out.
  15. Just a reminder of what this place looks like. Heres ‘The mount’ taken from Mauao: We’re gonna try ride over this if your bikes aren’t wide rides: Pretty mean Kaimoana here: We have so many places with so many beers: Come and play.
  16. There are exceptions to the rule. Considering the effort you’ve put into your Harley I guess you could come. Got any spare tassels for my bike though?
  17. Save the date! 50km + loop. Small bikes only! 250cc + under. Second annual Mt Maunganui ride! After the roaring success of this ride last year in December, it’s happening again soon! @Shakotom, @GuyWithAviators and I are hosting this wicked jaunt in paradise. This is an awesome day on awesome bikes in an epic part of the country. There was an even split of locals and out of towners last time, with an even bigger turn out expected this year. Day after oldschool.co.nz Drag Day @ Meremere. Make a weekend of it! A decent jaunt around the Tauranga, Mt Maunganui and Papamoa areas. Starting from the Av Gas Cafe/Classic Flyers car park in Mt Maunganui with the route still to be finalised. This is for small bikes only! Speed limit will strictly be around 50kph, sometimes zooming up to 60 when get a tail wind, this is to cater for the slower and older bikes in the group. Safety is paramount, so just make sure you've got your wits about you, Helmet, current rego etc etc. The ride will head down Tauranga, mount Maunganui and out to Papamoa, lasting a few hours at least including a stop at the beach, location yet to be finalised. Newer small bikes are most welcome, older are preferred. CC ratings will be capped at 250, otherwise the charm is lost for the smaller capacity crew. (If you have something bigger but wanna hang then it’s sweet tbh, just ride behind the pack, slow bikes go first; this line is used when advertising on local groups to dissuade the Harley crews etc). Spread the word, any question, just ask! The more the merrier of course.

Awesome progress bro. Can’t wait to see you in Tauranga, December 10th! It’s gonna be a wicked day.
  19. Just had a look online for Gizzy stuff. Ended up tentatively booking a room at Waikanae Beach Motel for @Shakotom, @GuyWithAviators and myself. It’s a ground floor room with a ranch slider outside to where we can park the bikes. They have a BBQ there so we might be able to congregate or at worst there are public BBQ’s a few seconds (literally) away. Keen as on a floor or something at the Bach as Shakotom mentioned. Exciting stuff! Can’t wait.
