  1. Doesn't matter if it's shit? Right, Old Triumph parts it is then!
  2. This is my life when driving the bloody thing. Creates worry in passengers when there is plenty of range to go.
  3. If I have any less than a quarter tank in mine it won't start on anything other than flat ground. My guess, fuel gauge accuracy = poor.
  4. I am led to believe this is now painted. Where is our update on the Estate Sweetness?
  5. Aptly named Super Legere mode by ThreeOnTheTree, Triumph in full race mode. Later that day she went on to run consistent times around 21.6X. Back of bonnet popped because the Honda boys told me it increases airflow.
  6. I'll be in attendance hopefully. However I have nothing to gift as I don't keep old bits.
  7. Bit of progress made this arvo! First tip, remove the plastic bungs in the inlet if you want them not to melt in the oven. Engine bay coming together nicely. Before and after pics to show.
  8. A little bit of progress again tonight. Changed the radiator hoses and thermostat cover as well as a few other hoses. Then I slapped the intake manifold and throttle/ choke cables on.
  9. I'm not too sure. I just asked if they could coat it with something Hi-Temp. It's shiny, I'm happy.
  10. Nice surprise at work this morning, Rimmers had delivered! I only managed to get the manifold gasket, exhaust manifold and bottom gasket on before the rain started! Black powder coat looking better than rust already. Decided to give the air intake Flexi hoses a bit of a scrub whilst inside with nothing to do.
  11. Got my shiny pieces back from the powder coaters I then poked the radiator back in Fumbled my way through making some cork gaskets for the carbs. Now I'm just waiting for my manifold gasket to arrive to put it all back together.
  12. He probably won't be doing much, some bastard flogged it on Monday night/ Tuesday morning unfortunately.
  13. Radiator has been dropped off to be reconditioned, it wasn't cheap but oh well. Rusty fuel lines have been replaced. I've ordered a new manifold gasket and hose kit. Should be here next week I'd hope. I got my bits and pieces back from sand blasting today, I'll drop them into the powder coaters tomorrow These will hopefully go a long way to tidying up the engine bay. I also gave the bay a bit of a clean on starboard side whilst all of this is out. Also on the list: Replace thermostat cover, replace all hoses and clips/clamps, repaint rocker cover (better this time), organise for the wiper motor assembly to be polished, clean port side of the engine bay, repaint oil filter housing, refit radiator, refit intake and exhaust manifolds, refit carbs, make carb gaskets (I've never made a gasket in me life, should be easy?)
  14. Looks like my radiator is shot. It's had a couple of JB Weld sessions in the past. Any recommendations to find a new one here?
  15. Anyone know roughly what it costs to recore a radiator these days? I want to keep my original look (aftermarket probably isn't an option) and the ones on rimmers aren't that cheap.
  16. Sweet, they are really close by and seem to be pretty cheap. Will be using these guys.
  17. After work this evening I decided to remove and repaint the radiator. However now that I've pulled it out I believe it me be past its use by date. As soon as you touch it the fins crumble away. Time to find an original looking replacement. I then pulled the intake, carbs, intake manifold and hoses off. I pulled the exhaust manifold after that. Next step is to find somewhere to get everything blasted.
  18. As far as powder coating I was going to powder coat the air cleaner box and the box that holds the two air cleaners before the carbs. I think I'll just paint them gloss black, Bcos cheaper. I've got a new rocker cover gasket to on on and will definitely be repainting the original (trying to keep it OG as possible). Can anyone recommend a good place to give my intake mani a bit of a blast? Radiator will also be getting a strip and respray to accompany its shiny new cap. I'll have a go at polishing carbs covers/cleaning exterior of the carbs myself. When I eventually get the balls I'll strip the engine bay down and take that for a respray .
  19. Can anyone recommend the best way to bring my intake manifold/ carbs back to looking good? I was thinking maybe some form of media blasting would clean it up well? Is there anywhere I could take all my bits and bobs for metal polishing? Also looking at possibly getting a few bits such as the intake powder coated, thoughts? Really want to get the engine bay tidied up, it still looks as foul as you can see in the first post n this thread.
  20. Managed to find a replacement Sump and Sump Plug for $80 INCL freight, so I went down that route.
  21. Unrelated, but where can I get my Sump plug threads helicoiled or fixed on my 919. Preferably Thursday or Friday.
  22. Hopefully you do make it out to the next Auckland meet, I'd love to have a look.
  23. Pretty good day out at the ATCC show n shine today. A fairly decent turnout of about 35 cars at a guess. My TC was lucky enough to come away with an award for best 2000/2500. Was only marked down for the rear bumper, drivers seat and the general untidiness of the engine bay.
