Yeah old mate has the tag as well. Although, there is a way around that as you can purchase new tags and have them stamped (I have the details).
Just a bit worried he could chuck the plate on another car (same year/ model) go for a wof and then I'll be left high and dry not being able to get a wof and rego

Hypothetically, how would one ease their mind knowing the OG plates are out there (not with car), car is hypothetically in my name & possession with rego on hold and hypothetically I have repo plates for it. Whats stopping old mate with the OG plates from livening them on another car, other than the car not being in their name?

Wow, long time no update.
Cars been running well, I vapor blasted the carbs over Auckland's lockdown 2021 edition because boredom was real. Turned out pretty trick!
Last week @R3spct organized a Dyno day for the Datsun folk. Started with 101hp first run with 138 main jets and 16 degrees timing. Reduced jets to 125 main and then 10 degrees advance to produce 109hp. Pretty happy but the dyno graph shows my AFR is up the shiet.
Cheers @Roman for the video.
Anyone have knowledge with AFR and Dellortos? I'm about to purchase an AFR gauge and wideband to aid in getting it right.

Baby blue has been trucking along well. Ive rebuilt some b210 struts and brakes to put back in (currently has b310 struts and brakes), so we will lose the spring binding issue when it hits bumps.
Radiator rebuilt and new hoses throughout.
Currently our cheapest car to run with the a12 and single carb

So I forgot to update this thread and in the meantime, iForce image hosting disappeared so the thread has no photos!
Car got sprayed...car went through revin...car got wof and rego...cars driven almost 10,000kms. Took it to the Datsun North island event in October last year, went well.
Next steps - I have a set of 40mm dellorto's I am rebuilding for my sister to get on this car - should make it go a bit better!
Photos from start to finish. Ill work on getting the thread revived again so you can see the process this car's bee through!

Big day today for the old girl. WoF time, first time in 10 years!
List of work completed to her in the last two weeks while I've had time off in between changing jobs:
- New battery
- New water pump
- New valve stem seals, head gasket, tappet cover gasket, carburetor gaskets
- New ball joints
- New shocks
- Indicator wiring gremlin fixed
- Battery discharging issue fixed (washer motor short)
- Alternator replaced for one that actually charges and doesn't whine!
- Full oil service
- New rear slave cylinders
- Front struts swapped for B310 big struts with bigger brakes (bolt in), lowering springs installed.
- Front brakes rebuilt (seals and pistons).
- New master cylinder
- New tyres (Nangkang 175/60/14)
- Spare bonnet for my Green 120y put on (already paneled and primed black)
- Spare arched guards sprayed with a rough blue match and put on.
- Tune up
- 2" Lowering blocks installed
Rust cut out and repaired:
- Engine bay - left and right strut tower
- Under left and right front guards - support rails
- Radiator support
- Front valance
- Rear right door shut to roof seam
So all in all, pretty happy with the WoF items! Spring eye bushes and tie rod on order, will hopefully see them next week. Could have picked these would be pulled up, should have done them in hindsight but have run out of energy!
I will get some more photos up of the work completed. She drives really nice and smoothly, no more smoke thanks to the valve stem seals! A full buff and replacement of the pinstripe is certainty required!

No,
but I have used both of these sites and found them both excellent, i have both dellorto's and weber's and both sites sell bits for both.
BTW I do have a small collection of new and used sidedraft main and idle jets that fell outside the ideal range for my applications that i no longer need - lemme know what your after i might have it
Hey mate do you have any air bleed jets for the main/idle jets?

Could that short driveshaft be off 510. Was looking on 1200.com and 510 is 1082mm u joint to u joint with h165 flange pattern but different spigot size.

It's possible? Maybe someone swapped the yoke from L series to A series?
I ended up getting my other shaft shortened and balanced as that one was slightly too short and way out of balance!

Diff installed and running well! Ended up getting a driveshaft shortened, re balanced and a new joint fitted under level 3! The 4.11 ratio provides a fair bit more torque than the 3.9 and is paired well with the 5 speed box!
Anyway, I was asked a while ago to share some photos of inside the car as I'm pretty useless at this... Interior is 95% mint, a tear in the hood lining and a tear in the already repaired drivers seat. Plans to get this tidied up soon!
Went for a little drive to the beach!

More updates... Laid some paint this afternoon ready to go back in the car.
Also, forgot I never posted the guard resurrection. In December last year I spent some time repairing rust, filling and sanding. Got some paint matched, its not perfect but pretty close considering the lime/yellow/milky colour. The paint tin is back at the shop and they are having another go at it.
So back to the diff, aiming to have the exhaust sorted on Saturday and the diff in on Sunday. Might go for a hoon up the road on Sunday night

Bit of a cheeky update from end of last year...
Engine in, running and driving! just no brakes, but who needs them.
We've been filling, sanding and filling some more. Aiming to get highfill primer on before we come out of lock down then some more sanding...

What is the H165 out of? From memory the 1200 ute housings with axles bolted up (all were H165) although hard to find these days. If from a 910 or similar make sure you dont have to pump the guards to make up for any extra width. How badly are you breaking them?
I must have had the worlds strongest H150 in old TUFDAT - 5 years of absolute abuse (shown below) and it only got a little noisey lol. TBH its last 2 years were run with 100% lucas oil stabilizer as the diff oil. That stuff really works.
Shit that h150 took some hard work!
h165 is from a 1200 ute, same width as the 120y h150 diff.
Maybe I should get some of that oil... might be worthwhile in this new diff.Video below of how bad they get lol

Shite man looking good! nice getting that stuff sorted
Had a geez at your h165 conversion photos, I'm doing one at the moment for my 120y.
Do you remember re welding/adapting for the shock mount on the diff? Ive had to take the h150 mounts and weld them onto the h165 to fit
Reg on hold, no plates
