  1. I'll be there from Wed onwards. Hopefully the cops relax a bit this year. In saying that I am 100% more legit than I was last year.
  2. I think if you asked 10 people this question you will get 10 different answers. The height I have the impala at is different depending on who is in the car, where I am going or what mood I am in. If you are setting the cars suspension up now, my advice is to set it up so it lays frame. The only way is up from there My car has about 150mm of adjustment which is high enough to attempt some rock walking...
  3. If you cut the bump stops just take some measurements first so that you dont end up squashing something important like brake lines when your chassis ends up hitting your diff. Ive cut bump stops in my chev and in my old ute, Ive just re shaped them so they dont look cut and they fly through WOFs. Cut springs are all good in my books, as long as they are captive. You just end up with the wrong spring rate for the car, but you get LOW for cheap! You can get them compressed by a company like snells springs, to the height you want, but they can end up a bit uneven and saggy over time.
  4. I bought a used radio flyer on trade me for $50 and decided to make it look a bit better and give it to my boy for his birthday. One thing lead to another and now its a candy red low riding radio flyer
  5. I pryed off the front cover with a small screwdriver, took my least favourite card from my wallet and cut & glued it into place using a pritt glue stick. It seems to work well and blocks out the lights too http://s9.postimg.cc/62ef6e8fz/image.jpg
  6. I will try and open the controller tonight and see if there is a way to disconnect the buttons, I dont use them anyway. I only use front up/down and rear up/down If I cant fix it Ill try GetLow
  7. Yea I understand where he is coming from, it's to stop people doing 3 wheels in their low riders. I have the remote in my link, can you post a photo of yours?
  8. Hi Guys Is anyone else running accuair? I have been asked by my cert guy to disconnect the individual corner controls before he will certify my set up. He says that Im not allowed to operate diagonally opposite wheels at the same time. Only all up & down, front up & down, rear up & down and sides up & down. How the hell do I disconnect it without butchering the keypad? I suppose I can try and open it and remove the contacts inside the keypad http://yarilscustoms.com/wp-content/uploads/AA-ELS4-TPAD_002_Callouts.jpg
  9. I started the cert process in Feb 2015 for the air bag suspension. It failed on dumb stuff like no pressure gauges and no relay so they cant be played around with while driving. I took it to beach hop and then the motor started playing up. I decided to save some cash and buy the new motor and re visit the cert now that it has a new motor. You're right, no one would know the differance but it doesnt cost anything extra to get it certed while Im at it.
  10. Yea I think we under estimate these cars. It has taken me much longer than I expected. Definitley hitting beach hop. WOF or no WOF, ill be there!
  11. I hate working outside in the driveway on the car but I dont have a choice at the moment. I will look for one this year or build a car port at least here at home. The 283 that was in there made 160hp when it came out of the factory in 1961. It was probably making half of that when I took it out haha. I'm going to try and start it today. Ive pretty much taken the week off work to get it going.
  12. That's not what I want to hear Ill just cross my fingers and toes. Is your son going to drive the mercury?
  13. Thanks alot. Ive been keeping an eye on your 64 build. Looks good. I dream of owning a vert one day. I know a few guys who run E-level and they have said the same thing but love it when it works right. Ill get it one day. I have a few other things I want to do to the car first tho.
  14. My boy doesn't know it yet, but hes working on the car he can drive when he gets his licence. Teach them young
  15. This is what happens when your car is too low and you dont install a slip yoke on the drive shaft
  16. There was a little bit of play in the old steering. By a little bit I mean I could swing the steering wheel furiously left and right while driving and the car would hardly shiver. I rebuilt the steering box, replaced the rag joint, replaced the power steering pump (Yes I have factory power steering!) and rebuilt the power steering hydraulic arm
  17. A new stock fuel pump was not providing enough pressure, It was dropping off to 2 PSI higher in the rev range so an aftermarket Carter pump and fuel pressure regulator deliver the goods now
  18. The radiator was stock so I had it reconditioned and changed from a 2 row to a 3 row. Much better than going with a cheaper alloy option IMO
  19. The old seats were stuffed so a mate recovered them with a set of covers I bought from Ciadella Interiors in the states. They came up pretty good.
  20. Im hope I can get mine in time! Im a bit nervous
  21. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/47715-moorepowers-61-impala/
  22. I put a slip yoke on the drive shaft so I dont ruin the new trans. Ive got my cert booked in for friday so hopefully all goes well.
  23. I decided a crate motor was going to work out cheaper than rebuilding the 283 so I bought a 350 with a TH350 transmission. I got a mild cam and had it all dyno tuned. Made 300hp and 400nm which is not going to break any land speed records but it should get it moving along pretty well
  24. A home job respray turned out better than expected
  25. I used CLR and a scotchbright as well as alot of degreaser to remove half a century of grease
