  1. Right so needed to work out wiring for alternators that I had done errrrr ,nearly 20 years ago. Holy sh** .No wonder I couldn't remember how I did it. Ended up following the wires and drawing a circuit diagram, then added some more to it. Next job, install these goodies.
  2. Well got a bit more done today. Have been busy with a school production. Took off this air con unit which has been on the last twenty years going around and around doing nothing . (Ripped out air con radiator ages ago to fit inter cooler). Then I thought hmmmmm theres a space, I need to fill that. There's a couple of brackets in here somewhere. Bracket 1 Bracket 2 Now that should be better. More power for the stereo. 1 alternator at 50 amps for the car electrics and 2 alternators at 80 amps (160 amps total) for stereo.
  3. A few photos from race day. Lap 13 Took over an hour to find the wheel. My mate was recording some of the race and happened to get part of Lap 13. His reaction still cracks me up and at the end he forgets to turn the camera off, so lots of shoes and ground, but the half hour of comments is hilarious. (Is he allowed to race with 3 wheels? etc). Video
  4. Good productive day today. Motor is out, now have to swap over some parts from old one to new old one. Also does anyone know what I can use to extend my oil pressure gauges. At the moment it is this blue rubber hose, doesn't look very nice.
  5. No car is fine. It was me that broke about 2 months after race. Short version....virus, inner ear damage, balance, still not right. but some people worse off than me.
  6. That's cool. Never seen the 8 track before. Just before my time I think .They sort of look like Mini Disks. Yes I love motorised stuff. You can put 7 tapes in it, then it will play both sides of all 7 tapes. About 7 hours .
  7. Sounds good but will have to sit out this one. Going to spend weekend on Laser.
  8. Nice. What do you do with them once you have finished? This is what I use in my shed. Akai Amp AA-1150 and a Mitsubishi automatic 7 x cassette player with a programmable record player.
  9. Few more details of the car. Suspension - Front VW Beetle / widened VW brakes - Rear Porsche 930 CVs Porsche 930 halfshafts Holden brake calipers Steering - Morris Minor shortened 2008 decided to enter my first (and unfortunately last) mainland challenge enduro race in CHCH. Built a new dash with push button start Not sure what technical name is for these hand brakes but man are they fun. Painted frame, fixed all the fibreglass panels and had them painted. Changed the side curtains so they unhooked easier. New rear adjustable shocks. Build an air filter at the top of roll cage and ran a black pipe from motor to it. Before if you went through a large puddle of water the engine would just about die from a belly full of water. New number and graphics Picture on bonnet of my old mate. Test drive ready to go.
  10. Well sort of. Will show you in my next post. Yes. Not much of a chance in Class 1 with the big dogs, but the old girl was pretty reliable.
  11. Motor is a EJ1800 Subaru Legacy/Impreza with standard computer. It had done about 110,000km when it was put in. Haven't had any problems with motor at all. Runs sweet. cute sister .... No comment.
  12. I think this car was a single seater and was converted to a double as it is very snug. There were two bars on either side of roll cage that you would bang you head on. Had them moved out about 100mm at one end, made a big difference. Also found some adjustable shocks at the recycle centre one day ($5 for both) , front now has hard and soft with the flick of a switch. Spent a lot of weekends with friends and the kids testing it out. Made an old high chair with foam around it so my girls could go in it. This is the only car of mine I let my sister drive. Then I joint the offroader club and started going on there practice drives in the forest. AWESOME FUN !!!!
  13. So about 9 years ago I decided to buy this offroader. Me and my mate would spend hours driving it around a paddock track, seeing who could scare each other the most. It has a 1800 boxer motor on a combi 4 speed gearbox. Here are some photos of when I brought it.
  14. Well I have finally started to remove stuff for the temp engine swap. Its been awhile since I have done anything like this.Taking lots of photos so I remember where all the wires go. Temp E5T motor to go in while I do original motor up. Hope it works. I'm already missing my sounds.
