That motor in a gokart would be the berries! That way you could make use of its rediculous torque. Have you seen my "somali battle wagon"? This thing is so much fun and I'm constantly amazed by where there can go. It only had a DT200 motor in mine geared real low...your motor would send it into orbit!!!!

Go on...be great to see what you come up with? You'll need about this much articulation to really have fun. You can get by with less...but controllability will suffer.
-
No, haven't done that. Essentially it would just be a normal gokart with sleeves on the rear tyres. Getting enough articulation in the front wheels would be a bit of a challenge, not impossible. For example a normal car versus purpose built drift car, they differ greatly...

Had a bit of a low after saying goodbye to the naomi trike. So time to get back on the horse (trike?)...so to say. Then that other axle and trike looked a bit lonely...so I united them in an unholy union too: The wheel are just temporary on the red seat trike.

Sleeves. If anything it' gripping more in the wet. It' got a snappy motor on it..I'm been a pussy as I don't want to wreck it before giving it to Naomi tomorrow. I took the clutch apart, then cut about 3 coils off the spring loop inside...then reassembled. It' raised the engagement rpm higher. This helps a lot for throttle response and aids in getting a better idle without rubbing the clutch all the time. From that ride...I can tell it' going to be fun:)

Breaking news...storm hits upper north island. Rain, thunder and hail are causing hazardous driving conditions. Motorists are advised to stay off roads due to slippery conditions: Yeah buddy!!!

Personalised plate arrived today. Just waiting on the boat fuel line and primer bulb to arrive...then it should all work fingers crossed.

Random slightly cool stuff you built but not worth its own thread, thread

Fantastic! I had a spine ramp version like yours in my parents back yard...went home for lunchtime everyday (at high school) and rode it for years. Then built exactly what you've made when I was in London...kept me from going insane...seriously... -
Kimjon's not as cool or epic as Muncie's off-road goped Bigfoot scooter thingy

Version V1.0 chain roller shredded itself. Actually it was still functional...but well flogged out. It was quite a hard rubber...but not hard enough. The initial idea was sound, so i reused this solution, but changed materials...with a much harder composition. Ebay to the rescue again. $2.90 delivered to my door rural delivery included. Versus paying $10, plus another $10 delivery on trademe ($20 total). It's holding up really well after riding it around all morning. Success! -
Brakes = yes Throttle = yes Kill switch = yes Only thing holding it back are some pvc sleeves for the wheels and some 3/16" fuel line. Then it should be ready to get sideways! Booyah soldier....boo fucking yah!!!!

Couple more pics... I flared the seat out around the top edge. It's a bit rough...but rough enough. I've ordered a few ebay decals to dress it up a little more. And a fake personalised plate from trademe. But really...hook up the cables, plumb the fuel lines, install a return inlet to the fuel tank...and call it a day. Oh maybe do a few skids too!

Yes...yes it does I actually went to an army surplus store and brought a canteen, ammo box and a little folding shovel "to accessorize" it...but in the end I didn't end up using them. I couldn't help thinking it was getting a bit like OCC (Orange County Choppers) where they weld all sorts of shit to an awfully proportioned chopper.
-
Haha...nice one. All's fair on trademe. Glad it got snapped up by someone who will put it to good use. Be interesting to see what you come up with?

Far out...12hrs on this today!!! However - it's starting to take shape. Just little stuff to do, another day tops and it's done: Cheeky preview

Found a port to take "pulse" from to power the diaphragm pump. To test I put a small balloon over the port...turned over motor and watched what happened? Success!!! Line hooked up. This may get swapped out as I have concerns over it sucking itself tight...and that doesn't sound much fun to anyone:)

Two tone...paint should be done by tomorrow

Righto did a shitload of work on this last night. This is what it now looks like: Mmmmm bare metal...tasty...sexy...delicious...mmmmm
-
Then the motor on the other one got some attention. I try new things each time, not because it's a better idea...more, because I can. I guess it's a learning opportunity and it stops these projects all becoming the same. I am going to mount the fuel tank lower than the carburetor. This is a problem for a gravity feed carb...solution - install a fuel (pulse) pump in line. I made this sexy bracket after a bit of thought and things seam to be falling into order.
-
Front forks sorted. I welded on angle iron cut to size. A 12mm threaded rod will be the axle...it will hold bmx pegs, the wheel and spacers etc. It was a bit of dicking around to get it all square. But it's done now.

Do it! Direct drive spindle, would be super easy to do. -
It rides just like a normal(ish) bike once you're on it and moving. Even slow speed is easy, you tend to forget you are on a tall bike. The only thing to watch out for is going uphill where the front can lift. When you stomp down to power up a hill...if and when the front lifts...it's flips real quick! Any more than about 200mm of front wheel lift off the ground and you be in trouble as the leverage is positioned much further back and higher than normal. Good news is if it does flip you tend to just pop backwards and land on your feet while still holding the bikes handlebars. I'd say it was well worth the half a day to make it:)
-
Haha..."tall bikes will save the world" Thinking of doing something for the exhaust. Trying to keep them simple but stylish. However I always tend to go a bit over the top in the last stages...call it ocd?
