  1. Added an oil pressure switch
  2. Solutions: Cutting it down, machined in lathe afterwards. M4 cap head to act as a pickup. This M4 drives the tab that turns the worm thread. Spacer made to add back on, what I cut off...but on opposite side. Tadah!! Fuck yeah! All sorted.
  3. Long story short, speedo driver unit for mechanical drive, adapted to fit a late model wheel that doesn't have mechanical driven speedo. Problem was this gap. The older shovelhead wheels have the bearing recessed in an inch, so that tab connects. Also they are mounted on the RH side. Mines on the left. Problems!!
  4. Starting to take shape. I cut that plate from 4mm thick steel. I'll weld it under the transmission. It will hold a few items, fuses, relays harness etc. Hopefully mostly out of sight. Each branch of the loom goes to a different part of the bike. The deutsch connectors are huge and fucking ugly, so these will be hidden under the bike too.
  5. Looking good. Love the v twin!!
  6. All sorted today. Every function is working as it should, all the gremlins fixed. So satisfied with outcome. Next I'll bundle up the looms and heat shrink them into logical groups. Then snip them off, rejoining back together with deutsch connectors.
  7. Spaghetti junction?? But its a big step forward for me. As much as I wanted this job to magically solve its own problem...I had to take control of my fears and get stuck into it. Nothing like a lockdown to motivate you to escape the madhouse and hide in the shed.
  8. https://www.bikeexif.com/build-cafe-racer Check out racer TV on YouTube. He's put a lifetime of energy into the content on there. Once you get used to the computer translation robot voice, its full of great content.
  9. Yeah man, that bike is sweet!! In an ideal world the rear seat would end inline with the axle...but meh...looks good.
  10. Dent be gone(ish)... Bit of love from a hammer and dolly. Electrics all tested and working. It cranks over (no gas). So a few things to do like replacing fuel lines etc and it should fire up fingers crossed?
  11. Just mucking around in the shed on that new vespa. Its one owner. He purchased it new in the UK, then brought it with him to nz. Ive got all the uk and nz importation paperwork. It failed getting registered in nz because of some rust in the bottom of the leg shield. I just had a play with it, swapped a new battery into it and all the lights, indicators, horn work etc. I then turned it over with no fuel in the tank and that worked too. So looks like its worth putting some time into it.
  12. Mate wanted a biltong slicer, so I'm making him this. Still a work in progress...
  13. Yeah been looking at that for months now. He's listed it about 5 or 6 times. Unfortunately the drive is on the wrong side. Not impossible to get around by flipping rear wheel and making a slide for the rear brake etc. But add radiators etc etc and you'd be 1K deep. Starts getting uneconomical to the point you can pick one up for $2500-$3500 all good to go. Though it would be cool.
  14. My battery is also well fuckered. @flyingbrick tested it for me and if it was an animal animal you'd be giving it one in the back of the head and down the offal hole... But im glad I have solid answers now.
  15. Same as this one below. I paid $30 from ebay delivered. They normally take about 2-3 weeks to turn up. https://m.aliexpress.com/item/1005002038313820.html?albpd=en1005002038313820&acnt=494-037-6276&aff_platform=aaf&albpg=296904914040&netw=u&albcp=9444695485&sk=UneMJZVf&trgt=296904914040&terminal_id=01e04a3f896441319a8986b0c5d6e427&tmLog=new_Detail&needSmbHouyi=false&albbt=Google_7_shopping&_randl_currency=NZD&src=google&crea=en1005002038313820&_randl_shipto=NZ&aff_fcid=04dad6e041704aba9f52cc6d0d29e53b-1627360659756-04126-UneMJZVf&gclid=CjwKCAjwuvmHBhAxEiwAWAYj-PXmE_GE2ZlcgYNEUDXD9A-OJJLCMcLHfeL8GtrN9JAu7apK4HZF8hoCxsQQAvD_BwE&albag=99457316601&aff_fsk=UneMJZVf&albch=shopping&albagn=888888&isSmbAutoCall=false&aff_trace_key=04dad6e041704aba9f52cc6d0d29e53b-1627360659756-04126-UneMJZVf&device=m&gclsrc=aw.ds
  16. ***Update: Swapped out battery, with a known good one from a mates tractor. Took it for a drive, pretty much same as last time...all good for 10 minutes, then no charge going on. So Swapped out alternator...problem gone. so it was the alternator that caused all my issues, just as I suspected. Cheers Mike - fucking legend for giving me an alternator for free!!
