In other BMC news, later that day also spotted while driving from afar/no pic a pus yellow Allegro with offset black racing stripe over the bonnet/roof/boot and a roofrack with a surfboard on it. I cant believe im on tenterhooks when im driving around jonesing for a good photo of an allegro but it was a doozie.

I was wondering how the boy was getting on with this @a.craw4d. Get him a Hako next plz.

Credit where it's due, that looks ace, and way better than I was doing at that age.

/and I have pics to prove it.....

Think he's keen on a mk4 supra next.  His skyline lust starts at the r32 so haven't fine tuned that into him yet but he's on a good track.

I think the decals really finish off the r34, was kinda plain before they started going on. He's just got the doors to go now then chuck the wheels on.

  3. Unless you know a painter then powder coating will be a lot cheaper. The finish with powder coating just won't be as shiny as painted.

When we get wheels painted for work a local auto painter charges $135+gst per wheel.

IMHO I'd go for painted, just looks better. I'll find some painted pics soon.

  4. Agree Altezza's are cheap as chips right now and are good bang for buck. Can only go up in price when they can be picked up for 2-5k now.

We paid 15k for ours over 10 years ago. It was a fresh low k import so hasn't been assholed and is still tidy inside and out. It no longer gets much use since I got a work van but figured we'll chuck it in the garage and wait and see. It can't loose anymore value.

Oh yeah. My sub 90000km s13 owes me 5k counting the purchase of a turbo engine, gearbox and loom package. Food for thought.

Buy what makes you smile, hold on to it and see what happens.

  5. Your painting and weathering looks amazing Dan.

My 10yo boy recently bought his first kitset.

Fairly ambitious for a first timer but he loves cool cars so I'm not going to stop him.

I've only been giving guidance, he's trimmed, smoothed, painted and glued all the suspension together so far and is doing well.

I bought a few paints from this place

    https://thcc.nz/

Paints were under $5 each and only $3 shipping, good stock and fast turn around. Highly recommended.

I've also got an airbrush coming as I was never going to be happy with a brush finish on my Silvia. Just need to stop picking up new projects and get some shit done.

Will try get some pics of what the boy's done in the weekend.
