  1. if i wound a thread onto the factory patrol radius arms and bolted on a rod end and had a locking nut to stop it coming off and the rod end was to lvvta spec will it pass cert? like the pair in the picture but with a locking nut.? cheers
  2. cheers for that, anyone have any clue if its ok to use a single shear heim joint with high-misalignment spacers on the end of a tie rod?
  3. Bent drag links, certifiable? The joints on the end of my drag link bind up when at full suspension travel, if i put 2 bends in it so it becomes sort of a "s" shape ( its a solid bar like 25mm round) to get around the joints binding (it will be a new custom drag link not a bent oem one) or can a single shear high misalignment heim set up be certed?
  4. hey man, whats your spring rates front/ rear? would u like them heavier or lighter etc?
  5. Can anyone shed some light on what the welding test consists of etc for lvvta? I have not got my ticket and will be doing 80% of the welds on my build. Cheers
  6. Yeah i got asked to do a full design so am using the famed 4 link calc to do it, i got the numbers i want but if lvvta have thresholds i have to stay in then it sll goes out the window haha
  7. Yo Kris, im building a d/cab ln106 with sb 350 in it aiming for prerunner status, how are you finding the squat/roll steer in the back of this? My link set produces numbers real close to yours so am keen to hear any words you have regarding yours? Also certing mine so might have to change it up? Fully sick yota btw
  8. Doing a triangualted 4 link in the back of a sbc ln106, just doing drawings and stuff to submit to lvvta, do they have a threshold for anti-squat percentages and roll axis angle etc or?
  9. i contemplated building a roll bar aye, measurements have to be precise otherwise your soft top wont fit, and if your life has to ever rely on it id get a proper engineer to make one, i had a quote for $900 from chubbracing for a mean as one, another guy to see would be Kevin Hunt who lives in Waimauku...
  10. mean bro, mean, if you havnt seen the MCM miata turbo build: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUKgKtMXec8 they use a TD04 aswell, and so will i when i go to turbo mine... good luck its looking good.
  11. tinted tail lights, those of you that have them, do the cops hassle you much about them or have they prevented you getting a wof/cert?
  12. restore to original? and sell to turn your other 2 door into a racecar?
  13. well its been awhile, ive finished the front adjusties and have started to clean the engine xmember hubs and all that shit, from the a pillars forward is done but work on the car has slowed right down due to no $$$ and basic training coming up in august for the army... will do the odd bit to it when i have time.
  14. awesome to see yet another escort in works, good luck!!
  15. got a quote from pitstop for $420 for a full 2.25" exhaust with one coby.... if that helps and yeah a flexy joint will help because the bottom curve of the cobys crack... and get really weak and give lots of leaks.
  16. standard mounts...the tca's i got are cast
  17. decided im just going to run it standard with adjustable TCA's, adjusties on 300lb springs, gas shocks... will see if i need the swaybar side of things upgraded when its on the road.
  18. that actually looks pretty simple to make aye, i suppose it works with the thicker sway bar? does that lower the sway bar much more than factory or does it just provide more clamp points?
  19. looking basicly to improve handling as much as i can for low $$$, ill look into the kmac/ whiteline sway bars, cheers
  20. haha yeah that diff Roll bar look interesting, you could get fully insane and set the entire suspension up like a V8 touring car fully adjustable roll centres and stuff, have it set up like the metal man escort the running gear and suspension in this thing is insane, saw it in one of my classic car mags... http://www.classiccar.co.nz/articles/ford-escort-mk-i-metalman-monster-227 but for me i like things real simple i wouldnt get too far into super outrageous space age mega ownage suspension setups unless it helped handling so much of factory it would be like driving a go kart... which can be achieved by simple methods im sure... but hey i guess every one has their own opinion
  21. oh im not eventually going compression struts its one or the other... nah not of the anti dive kit.. heres one of compression sturts apparently you have to use real stiff springs like in excess of 500lb for it to work properly because all it does is locate the struts to a positive position and doesnt do as much as a ARB would in terms of stopping body roll.... ( after reading sheens on turbosport ) but you can also use a drop link so you can use the sway bar AND comp struts... but i cant see all that helping an awful lot over an anti dive kit so thats why im asking you guys to see what you think..?

    Escort ARB

is it worth getting a Anti-Drive kit for the sway bar? about to make an order from burtons.. ill be running adjusties and adjustable TCA's... or i could wait and get compression strut kit when i order my big brakes later on... opinions?
