  1. I knew I forgot something Edit I forgot I did put a link up. It should be on the smaller post
  2. Its in the garage now, Dylan helped me move shit around in the garage and get the cars out of the way so we could get it inside
  3. The second option for sure, I'd love a apache panel van or fleetside pickup. patina/worn paint with a ls and good suspension under it
  4. 3x on the above comments. It is good to see the progress of a longer term build and how things change
  5. Swaps for some certs plus cash my way gee. The plan is to get it legal then enjoy it for a bit then possibly sell it. I really want a apache at some point and I've got too many cars as it is now mint, hopefully I remember in the year or so it'll take me to get to that point
  6. dont forget the rattle can whitewalls
  7. Discuss away. Someone buy my bike so I can afford to work on any of my projects lol. I'm super stocked with how clean this van is, All the fluids are the right colour and smell. Cruise control and AC MAYTE what else could you want. I'll give it a tidy up, fit the parts/change all the fluids then take it for compliance. The only thing I have found wrong is the steering wheel flops around a bit, I think the adjuster is loose or a retaining bolt has worked its way out. I'll have a look at that at some point Later I will make a removable mattress base for it. I've got a big deep cycle battery and a VSR i've had for years so will probably end up chucking them in this. I've also got some lpg stuff I've been hoarding but I'll see how thirsty it is first. Does anyone have and friendly LPG guys who will let me do the work and they check over it/give it a yeah na Link to build fred
  8. So before our wee accident last year I had left some money with a friend to get a truck or van to send home. The plan was to spend a day or two with him when we returned the rental car. That didn't quite happen but he still had the money. We both spent months looking at craigslist and looked at a few vehicles but nothing was right. I saw this van one day but It was FULL of tools, I thought to my self I can't ask Scott to deal with a van load of tools so I passed on it. I was talking to him on the weekend and he said he just bought a van full of tools.... HE siad he bought it off a old guy who was retiring and ended up chatting for a few hours. It was a bit more than I left with him so I transferred some money to him and a deal was done. A few months and many thousand dollars later I get a email with the collection documents. @piazzanoob Offered to help pick it up so I met him at the shipping yard. I was stoked when it started nicely for the the guy bringing ti to me, no horrible starter noises like my old c10. I put some fuel in, topped up the radiator and drove it home. I didn't receive the title or and paperwork so i'm hoping its still at the importers somewhere, I'll email them before I start panicking Getting picked up from phoenix I finally spotted it at the yard (just) The old guy has made some pretty decent cupboards etc, I found a lot of receipts in the glovebox. The screen was replaced in 2004 and the trans was rebuilt in 2002 by the looks of it. I was wondering what the small peddle on the left was.. He had cruise control installed too, there is even the paperwork& guarantee with it! I'll have to figure out how to get it to work. The aircon has been converted to r134a so it should just need regassing and it'll be lush. Its got lovely plush seats with two arm rests and old mate has even made a cupholder with a build in stubby cooler! Lush. Scott got a whole load of parts for me too as its easier to have them arrive with the van, a set of shocks (air shocks in the back) pads, ignition stuff and a fuel pump. It was better than Christmas tbh. lush cupholder/drawers There is a full length shelf beside these She just squeezed beside the house which is good Don't even need a free candy sign, piazzanooobs nephew came with him for a ride and was right in the passengers seat as soon as it was unlocked. I'm really poor now so progress will be slow for the next few months, I'll give it a good wash/wax and polish then start with all the service parts. Probably do a de cat at some point too as its huge and its too quiet, you can't hear any v8 rumble at all. It should be easy enough, just replace the cat with a section of pipe .
  9. Poor thing Didn't want to start for me last time I tried so I cranked it on the starter until it got here. I'm actually quite liking the steelie/whitewall combo. I need to tidy the garage enough so I can get it inside. I have ordered some bosch ev1 plugs off aliexpress so I can replace all the fucked injector/temp sensor plugs
  10. Mint thanks. I'll look into it, I'm interested in watching it if I have to recover it or not
  11. With more fuel in the tank it's behaving nicely today. I'll have to keep it above half a tank until I can be bothered to drop the tank again. My guess is the tank sealant has slightly blocked the pump surge bowl and it fills very slowly
  12. Joe reminded me we probably didn't put enough 2 stroke oil in initially so I chucked some more in with a splash of fuel. I tried to start it so I could move it out of the way and no luck today. I'm probably jumping to conclusions but I suspect the motor might be tired and the lack of premix may have been the finishing touch. I'll wait until I get a hold of a compression tester before jumping to any more conclusions. At this point I think the wise move is to put it in the lockup until I have enough money to do this properly instead of cheaply. All my other projects are closer to being finished than this so it makes sense to get them more completed before getting too involved with this
  13. It's finally back on its wheels! I spent half a day trying to get the new recaros to fit and gave up. I fixed the gsr recaro on the drivers side, the retaining hooks had snapped for the cushion I figured out what caused it to break on the first place. The recaro bracket made it sit higher on one side. I found some spacers now everything is sitting nicely and it actually feels level now. I'll pop over to my friends on monday and see if I can borrow his welder and I'll weld up the patches I made to reinforce the seat mounts. I took it for a quick test drive and it intermittently dies when you give it throttle. I initially suspected the igniter was bad so swapped it. No change, I did notice it was happy going up hill so I think it's a bit low on fuel. I think the fuel pump is a bit too high. I thought about checking it but was sick of the tank at that point... Hindsight is 20/20. Ill get some more fuel tomorrow morning and give it another try. I need to make a bash plate as it hits the headers on the way into the drive. I forgot to get some photos when I had the seat out, you can see the cable ties and one I forgot to trim. I re made the heat shield for the air intake as I lost the old pipe, I gave the new intake a bit of a polish. It should tec hard azz now, ite basically the same a a port and polished head right Handles like a go cart m9 and currently goes like a grazed cat lol. the shitty 175s are hilarious in the wet, even with the slippy viscous lsd it still spins up. It feels pretty good when its behaving but its not the same as my old one. I have the solution to that though in the form of a 2 litre block sitting under the deck. I'll eventually build that up and stick this head on it, it technically needs a cert with a 1.8 so may as well get a cert for a 2 litre. The exhaust is a reasonable volume, brakes feel great and the clutch and gearbox behave nicely so overall i'm pretty happy with it. The plan was to get a wof an tune but that might have to wait for a while as I need to save up to go to my brothers wedding in germany. I'll attempt to refit the passenger seat tomorrow
  14. true that, which is why I'm not buying any wheels right now haha
  15. I wish I had money left lol I've been eyeing up these too https://trademe.co.nz/1328226264 they are a bit narrow though
  16. I got it running long enough to bleed it today and the bubbles have mostly gone which is good, It still has the large surges? for lack of a better term. It ran long enough for me to think its a good idea to take it for a test drive and I got 50 mt up the road before it lost a rotor. I'll get it in the garage and make a start on running a new fuel pump wire and getting the rad fan mounted and wired.
  17. So you want to bring your vehicle home from the usa and can't find a write up either well here is the process I went/am going through. My memory isn't 100% but I'll make is as accurate as possibly I found my van in phoenix and had a friend look over it, He gave the ok and went and got it. If you are lucky you can get your friend/contact etc to act as a agent for you saving a $75 us title transfer fee. Make sure you get a bill of sale at this point in time. Now is the time to order whatever parts you want and stick them in said car. When you are ready contact your exporter/shipper, They will give you a SLI form. you'll need to fill in your details and the sellers or the person acting as your agents details. Complete it and send it off to the shipper. Your agent then should hand the title, bill of sale and and any receipts for parts along with the vehicle over to the shipper. When the container lands you will get a arrival notice. If you do not have a customs client code you'll fill in a form and send it off with proof of photo id. When that has been processed you will get a customs certificate shortly followed by a a invoice for gst and customs fees. For me in may 2017 they are customs import transaction fee of nz$42.85+gst and customs facility fee of 49.99 + gst, You will also pay import gst. My understanding is this worked out on the total cost of parts, the vehicle, and all shipping to nz. Pay this and a few days later you will get a invoice for shipping. I've broken it down here - Fumigation - 165+ - Destination cartage 235+ -Destination port service charge 395 - International freight 2270 - Origin cartage (im my case shipping from phoenix to la, $450 usd) - 687 - EDI processing fee 40+ - Customs clearance 65+ - Container handling - 150 - MPI inspection fee - 85.00+ - NZTA border inspection fee - 95+ Once that is cleared (I've just paid so i'll update this later) you'll receive the release documents and be able to collect your ride. I assume I will recieve my title and bill of sale upon collection of the van TLDR: A rough cost (less duty) for a van from LA to Auckland in a container is NZ$3611.74 Add $100 for customs fees and 15% of the vehicle purchase price & shipping. Hopefully this helps people on here who are thinking about bringing something back from usa. I asked/researched as much as I could and had a idea of the process but not what the costs were, its a bit more than I expected but I expected that I used cfrline to bring my van back and am happy with their service so far
  18. ^ sums up my issues as well so I'm interested to hear peoples recommendations
  19. @piazzanoob gave me a hand bleeding the brakes and he supervised me rangiing up a battery mount. I've got one side of the boot trim fitted. After work tomorrow I'll sort out the high stop and footwell wiring. That just leaves the seats and I can drive it
  20. Piazzanoob popped over to check out the rx7 and we had a look at it then a dragged him over and we fitted and blead the radiator and set the timing. I tightened up the remaining loose front suspension bolts. Just need to get another master cylinder and bleed the brakes and I can take it for a test drive and see what falls off
  21. I think they are called transistor assisted Contacts as tori said. Just connect ignition to a ballast resistor then the could positive. Negative of coil goes to the points
  22. Thanks. I'll have to do some more homework. I'll have to get it running long enough to need a radiator fan haha. My guess is its a shitty electrical connection somewhere
  23. I topped off the coolant and with a freshly charged battery it fired up perfectly this morning. I left it to warm up and after about 10 mins it started missing then dropped down to one rotor. I'll have to do a compression test once it's warm and go through everything else
  24. front discs are easier to do skids with because they actually hold the car
