  1. Crx is back together, only needed a small shave off the mount and the headers fitted. The radiator fan needed lots of trimming but it's in for now. I took it for a drive and everything worked like it should. I've managed to squash a heater core pipe a bit so Its doing green wees at the moment. I'll try and reshape the pipe and see if that'll fix it
  2. I guess it'll depend on their trigger (cam crank etc) inputs and if you can change stuff. If its a link I guess you can change stuff
  3. Migrane yesterday meant I got nothing done in garage. I chipped away at more stuff today. I got the cv shafts in and reassembled a inner that had popped out. Filled the gearbag with fluid. The rad support got a lick of paint to cover my butchery and make it match. I refitted the radius rods with new bushes and went to bolt in the crossmember only to find it hits the manifold. A quick tickle with the grinder should fix that. I will have to make up a support bracket for the back of the motor as its a long length of pipe to support from just the head. It did start up and is a fair bit quieter now which I'm happy with. I'll only find out if the drone is gone when I drive it. Another couple of evenings and I'll be drivable again
  4. Will do, I've already done all the tb coolant bypass and am seeing similar temps. Yeah they do take up a fair bit of space but I get extra clearance and shouldn't bottom them out all the time now.
  5. The only tank option I found was ex the states (assuming this is barts middies crx) when I went through my tank bullshit. I say try slosh fresh fuel through it and see how it goes
  6. I collected the crx gearbox today and spent a few hours in the garage. I ground away my welding sins ready for sons thick paint. It's not perfect or straight but it's as good as I can get it. Refitted gearbox While the car is jacked up I figured I should probably install the new thermal intake gasket. I'm skeptical as to much difference it'll make but I've got the Bluetooth data logging so I can keep a eye on it. Refitted the exhaust manifold and test fitted the radiator. It's a squeeze but it clears which is a improvement on before. The lower support is a tad lower than before but that gives me a bit of adjustment for a extra few mm between the rad and manifold. I plan to either get a half size rad or 'tuck' the radiator. By tuck I mean measure up one that'll fit where the ac condenser would usually sit I need to do a spanner check on the stuff I've done today and refit the front crossmember along with replace the cv grease and boots.
  7. The shuttle was surging and running like shit. I suspected the fuel pump was on its way out so I whipped it out. All gunked up with dried fuel sadness. Luckily the tank doesn't seem to be rusty enough to need lots of work to clean it out. I thought I'd finally attack the new to me headers for the crx as they had some surface rust and peeling paint. Quick once over with the flap disc and a squirt of paint and they are presentable The crx rad support was pretty bent and buckled which pushed the rad into the manifold so that needed fixing. I had kept a nose cut off one of the shuttles I've wrecked so drilled out all the spot welds. A quick check to see how close the shuttle stuff is to the crx. Carefully cut the fucked mount out Some carefully trained seagulls later and its in. Bonus now the bottom of the t bracket actually lines up with the bolt hole. The gearbox should be ready this week so I'll chuck it in soon. Might give the rest of the exhaust a quick squirt of paint too as it's mild steel. I also chucked some non fucked headlights on too as the other ones were all yellow and the brackets were butchered on or broken
  8. @Raizer dropped me off a couple of gy6 motors from his hoard. I was wondering if the wheel would clear the case and it does which i'mm happy with Chucked the pile of parts roughly together
  9. So I've made progress of sorts on both the crx and the the shuttle. My friend jason came around and helped remade the crx exhaust for me. Its tucked up nicely and the muffler is actually level and nothing rattles which is a win. I pulled the gearbag out and that is currently at the gearbox shop getting a new synchro and the mfactory diff fitted. The shuttle went for a wof and failed on a leaking master (that explains where the fluid went) and a rear seatbelt. I found the seatbelt while looking for other stuff in my hoard which was great. I had taken the door card off when I parked it ages ago for some reason and when shutting the door I managed to smash the speaker. Que replacements for both the shuittle and crx. I also got a new head unit and put the shuttle one into the crx. I started putting sound deadening mat on the doors but ran out when I got to the drivers door so I'll have to get some more. I've also ordered new engine side plugs so I can make a new engine loom for the shuttle as i'm not too happy with the current one
  10. I got the squash running so I'll be at the back of the pack. Also planning on van sleeping as @Raizerand I are going out so it'll be best to sleep in town somewhere
  11. Van hasn't sold yet so my accommodation is sorted for Friday
  12. I've been chipping away at the crx exhaust over the last while, flexi is welded into the reso and I've started taking the bends for the rest of the exhaust. I'll have to take it for a drive once it's finished and see if it's still drony and annoying. I talked to panel beater and asked if he wanted the shuttle gone as he has been too busy to work on it for the last while. He did so @Shakotom @MichaelJFox Helped me go pick it up. (thanks Tom for pic) I gave @MichaelJFoxa hand with his car tonight and was motivated to do some stuff on the shuttle, bolted on the bumper again and gave the brakes a quick bleed (they need redoing) and got some fresh fuel. I'll tidy some stuff up tomorrow and attempt a wof later this week
  13. Nah sell it and use the money to full the space with bikes and bike parts
  14. It is Gy6 which I'm hoping hoping will fit 139qmb also. Its too big for the nifty/melody but they are smaller than newer stuff anyway. When I pull the af18 out of the melody I'll test fit it to that
  15. I decided against the lengthened frame as I cbf and no close tubing that is close enough in size. I made a start on the clutch in the squash as the clutch arms were bent AF and weren't contacting. Luckily I hoarded the original motor out of the melody and with the luck of honda lego the clutch is the same. I had to strip them both as melody is early cvt and squash is single speed. The squash bearings were toast so I cleaned & repacked the ones out of the melody. Bent squash clutch vs melody one. I'll give the material a quick scuff before I reassemble everything, Just waiting on a belt to turn up and I'll be pesting around on the squash, well until the perished tyres explode Everything apart ready to be put back together *insert picture of reassembled clutch here* My aliexpress hub adapter turned up (for the nifty) so I gave it a quick test fit on the wheels. What a shame, it only fits on the wider one Since I was on a roll with the squash I thought I'd have a go at the other stock melody. As per this post I tried ro re ring it with no luck - The barrel is oversize. In my internet wanderings I found a post saying you can use the AF05 barrel and piston on the earlier AB07 melody motors. Short of it is yes it bolts on but even with two head gaskets and two barry cardboard base gaskets the piston hits the head. I'll try get some thicker gasket material or some thin metal and rtv and see what happens. I also raided the parts motor for the kick start lever as this motor was missing it. It turns out the Squash motor has the same case etc as the melody its just non cvt. I thought it may have been shorter but it must just be the 8" wheels which make it look tiny
  16. Motorwise I'm planning to do a aliexpress special gy6 4t build because cheap and the hub adapter doesn't fit any of my 2t motors. I'm thinking about extending the foot board part a tad but getting it straight may be fun. I'll see what bits I've got left from the dio
  17. I sold a nifty to @GuyWithAviators and the suzuki a50 to @Shakotom which cleared out some shed space. We went down to visit @Raizer and I ended up with another nifty frame.. I only wanted a few bits off it but had to take the whole thing. I chopped the bits I wanted off it Because I cbf with pulling the forks off I figured i'd install low with longer stem and hot metal glue. I chopped some of the Dio frame up as a sleeve The nifty frame had started to split on the curve so more dio frame donations The original engine mounting points were too low so I trimmed it and made it a tad longer Tacked it up.I did chop a bit more out of the stem to raise it up a tad after this Welded up. The plastics will need a trim to suit the new ignition switch position and to clear the forks
  18. @tortron my feet are still on the end of my legs I figured I'd get some work done before my foot started hurting Pulled crossmember off and got the old extractors off. Test fitted them and they fowl on the gearbox brace, easily fixed by taking it off.
  19. New reso/muffler turned up today. Its a bit of a monster so I'm thinking it'll do the job nicely. I'll pull the subframe out and fit up the new manifold and redo the exhaust Hopefully I get more clearance than that
  20. The door seals were pretty dry and shitty and when it rained you got a internal water feature. Rock auto to the rescue, They only took three days to arrive. My workmate is borrowing the van over newyears so hell help he install the new seals and second battery/vsr at some point this weekend
  21. I'm sick of smashing the 4-1 headers on the ground constantly so I've been keeping a eye out. I found some headers that A guy had been trying to sell for a while and made a lowish offer which he accepted. Went to collect them and had a chat, Turns out he'd changed headers and gone to a half sized rad and his old stock rad so I scored that too for a good price. The mid section of the exhuast will need redoing to suit the new manifold. I've bitten the bullet and ordered a AdrenalinR resonator as I'm getting sick of the droning so hopefully It'll quieten it down and stop some of the droning on the motorway. I'll have to move the rear exhaust flange as I was dumb and put it above the swaybar and it sometimes hits and rattles
