One of the things on my last wof for 1986 hilux was that the bias valve was missing for the rear brakes, wof guy said someone had taken it off. He ended up letting it slide as we were cutting it fine before Christmas break, but it's on the list he gave me for the next wof.

Doesn't seem to be any evidence one was ever there, there's a small bracket holding the brake lines to the back of the diff, my mates 90 Hilux (next generation) has drum brakes also and looks exactly the same. No bias valve just a little bracket in the center.

Is it just really common for these to be taken off or did it maybe not have one from factory?

I'm no expert but this is what I found for LN56-QD3 (LN56 0077883) which I think is your model. Showing part (1) should be a prop. valve on a bracket on the diff.

I find with the likes of Repco or Supercheap where they ask for rego I just go find the part numbers of what I need and give them that right away, or I guess keep the rego of a "donor" handy haha

As a former veteran of this workplace that is the way forward. The average min wage pimple faced worker has no incentive to go above and beyond finding parts that don’t come up with a rego. The exception is out there but it’s not the norm unfortunately.

Even just search the vehicle you want parts for on Trademe and steal that rego.

    Time to remove carbs

    10 minutes

    Time to change jets

    2 minutes

Time to fit the airbox rubber to the carbs

    6 hours

Holy shit I'm just going to fit pod filters if these jets aren't right. I have had the carbs on and off a few times, but apparently they shrunk this last month while off the carbs

Lol @Mop Head was telling me mechanic at his old job would refuse to take carbs of certain bikes if customer didn’t also get new rubber boots as 100% of the time they’re fucked

I was gonna reach out to @Mop Head about seeing if he wanted help with video or pics of the event, but realised its anniversary weekend & I'm up in Auckland.

Ah that’s a shame. If you’re about at all we will be doing stuff from Friday night thru to Sunday morning. Come say hi if you want.

Bring your Kymco out to Marks to do some laps before you get rid of it. Garlic Masters last weekend of this month.
