Daves new school holden shambles. (Is this project oldschool yet?)

Don't mean to brag but I can do a fuel tank in 20 minutes HMU. Anyway stick little jet valve in the pump cradle no more fuel starvation...... Was also a little plastic spacer that came with pump to hold screen open. Lesson learned slow the fuck down make sure there's nothing left in box before bolting shit back in.- 746 replies

Sigh. Found a little plastic gubbin sitting on gound that has obviously fallen out as i was manhandling the pump i remember seeing it at base of pump cradle when it was on bench. Haha for fucks sake I'll be an expert by end of this upgrade. Bonus points if you can tell me what it does. Oh and I'm booked for a wof on Thursday so there's the deadline to be back to running Naturally Aspirated.- 746 replies

There's enough gear on board to diagnose easier with wideband and the computer setup to tell me what's going on. Have a suspicion new pump may be slightly shorter so just isn't on bottom of tank. No worries I've fixed harder. 1 change is easier to back track on.- 746 replies

It's doing some weird shit it felt like it was running out of petrol so I put it 50$ in that stopped it but there is a slight surge at full power that hopefully is the fuel reg playing silly buggers with increased flow of new pump. Hopefully the new regulator cures that or its tank out again to see what's going on.- 746 replies

New pump fit the factory pod pretty well wiring was same gauge plug was different soldered the joints and covered using the submersible fuel line that came with the pump as I didn't trust the heat shrink I had. Old fuel filter on pump was utterly rooted pump itself looked fine. Managed to salvage the factory flexible hose and reuse on the new pump.- 746 replies

Stop procrastinating and do the bloody fuel pump Dave! That voice in my head got better of me today. I got absolutely covered in shit and have lightened a few kg of dirt and gravel from back of car.- 746 replies

With the boost tee in the lowest i seem to be able to go is 9psi so might put a mac valve in to bypass it completely so I can get it back to 6psi for normally family cruising and a tiny switch for scaring passengers. Fuel light is on now so next job is the fuel pump and regulator all bit purchased so will knock that out. Engine seems at its best on 10psi pulls clean as no misses or burning smells its surprisingly way quiter too obviously mufflers start working a bit more efficiently and turbo is chopping up more noise with less wastegate venting.- 746 replies

Realise i don't have any videos of this thing running properly. This is 10psi think this is where I'll call high boost for now I'll turn it back down so it lives.- 746 replies

Quick question if you need to feed throttle in to get a car to start what's going on? Too much fuel at crank??

I ended up with a lot of rejected AN Stuff from when I worked at Rocket lab basically used a few times not much else wrong they used it for everything we had an AN10 400 series speedflow garden hose....... I've used all that stuff up now I've tried some aliexpress stuff its all good for automotive use haven't tried hose yet might be worth buying that from a legit place. Will do standard hose for now to get me up and running and to figure out what AN Stuff I'll need to buy to replace it all. I want to redo fuel rail so that's got to come off for that.- 746 replies

I'm just jaded after working on PI Triumphs that run at like 90 psi and blow hoses and start fires and draw heaps of amps that cooks up wiring. This just runs a single speed pump the supercharged ones are 2 speed so should be piece of cake drop in deal. On a side note trans is real good but a high stall would be great to help get it up on boost.- 746 replies

Yeah may be original pump I've got an AEM one i bought a while back tanks under 1/4 now so good time to do it. I want to get regulator plumbed in first as the stock regulator won't be able to bypass what this pump puts out could hurt things or pump. It's firmly on list. Stock pump has been doing a great job this far logs show its kept up at 6 psi. Now I've raised rev limit and boost agreed im playing with fire.- 746 replies

1 click equals about 1psi i wound 4 clicks in as a starting point as instructions say start with no more than 1 turn. Immediately hit 12 psi which it took apparently with no issues puffed some black smoke i wound it back 2 clicks and now have 9 psi. It's a bloody rocket! Super fun at 12 pound will save that for the hail Mary run at end of day. Think i better fit a heat shield to protect all this shiny stuff and fit the blow off valve. Sounds different as with more boost through it.- 746 replies

I think biggest gain will be off line it actually scares passengers now when it comes on boost i think its on edge of traction at 6psi which i think ill turn up a bit during day once slicks go on. I've got a 3.45 ratio diff If i buy another car before drag day for parts which would make it pull way harder too. I think it should hang with stock v8s now which isn't bad id say there's $5k invested in parts etc in a $600 car that was destined to be skid hack most likely, Ive got all sentimental about this car now as its the first project I've done all the work on and have it work properly.- 746 replies

Haha Romans cars built with science this is built with hammers and flat head screwdrivers, weight plus v6 plus turbo versus revs bugger all weight and a manual I'm keen for that line up (i think I'll get my ass handed to me in a hubcap) @roman hope you make it there.- 746 replies

A new XDF was released that unlocks a whole pile more things in PCM and also now comes with terminology comments holy shit im excited to mess with torque management!! When this thing gets excited it starts kicking in Torque reduction usually a message first then cuts all power hopefully i can make it a bit less abrupt. There's also an option to turn it off completely that doesn't require pushing a button on dash which ruined a few runs down strip. Gives me some options if I let other people drive it like my dad and my daughter who both have zero fear.- 746 replies

Feeling some enthusiasm mounted up the new fuel pressure reg in spot vacated by EGR valve. Wiring is still there so If i wanted to put a sensor on it and have a new data stream. Just needs some tees and fuel line to hook it up, was going to do all AN fittings but can't justify spending the coin at moment can be a later job when I do it AN8 From tank.- 746 replies

Think im going to get this Ready as a support and shelter rig for Drag Day last year I lugged a lot of stuff in boot which had to be left laying around. Be nice to just unhook and car be ready to roll, having a few extra wheels too will be good and a trolley jack.

Happy with Turbosmart for under 200 bucks. If I lose control of the wastegate there's going to be shit sent to space! Or through the turbo which would break my heart (and bank) 8-10 psi it should be happy as more than that i can see headgaskets in the immediate future or running out of fuel supply......... I never did stick that fuel pump and regulator in. Have a week off coming up where I might get that stuff done.- 746 replies
