  1. Also fixing up a slightly newer but compact and gruntly Alpine Flex 4 channel amp which has had a channel pop replacement FETs for that arrived this week doing all four channels to freshen everything up. Got a big 2 channel pioneer on the way as well. Will chop and change see what sounds best.
  2. Just bought this throwback to the 90s brand new in the box. Now to see if it can run some subs all the instructions are hilarious showing a tapedeck. Built before amps had crossovers in them it used to have to be plugged into a companion box to get low pass curiously it can run as a 3 channel with this Eq box. As my headunit has a sub-out i wouldn't mind betting it'll work and sound beautiful. If it cant run them i have something else suitable but not as cool.
  3. If you ever want to chuck my v-twin on for shits and giggles im bloody keen. Probably wouldn't need sleeves on the tyres.
  4. Long term goal if i can find something suitable that'll definitely be where it ends up in something with four wheels. People in the states get the predator clone engines pumping out 50+ horsepower NA theres one in a drag bike with a turbo that made upwards of 150 allegedly. Ive got the big bits to turbo it now im just missing some pipework. Biggest problem for me is where to ride anything i build..... it scares the shit out of the public already and makes large animals scarper.
  5. Found a non VCDS method to do a throttle adaptation after some googling seems to have worked. Throttle butterfly dinked around and buzzed for 30 seconds so fingers crossed i guess.
  6. One of the things that scares the shit out of me riding this thing is how I lose steering when it lifts the front wheel with fuck all effort and shit brakes. It needs suspension at least in the front, Kimjon gave me these BMX size forks amongst other things a while back my plan is to chop them up if I can and give the front the ability to lift without losing contact with the road. This might take a bit of work as they are to narrow and to tall at the moment so planning cutting grinding welding all will be needed.
  7. No i didnt. i don't have VCDS cable yet only went as far as flushing cleaner through the external ports on the throttle body so i didn't disturb it to much. No oil in the intercooler pipes which i was happy about. I'll remove it at a later date if ok give it full going over or just replace it with a new one if its not to costly.
  8. Fuck you....... you small non magnetic object
  9. All back together now whole point of removing the hose clip was allow me to get a hose off to flush out the throttle body quite a bit of muck got washed out so glad i did. Also found that the intercooler pipes were barely on so those are on all the way now with some new hose clamps. Also vented the plastic inner guard to try get some more air through the intercooler 130mm thick it'll need all the air flow it can get.
  10. Found my vibration while i was underneath it. Yup pretty sure thats fucked.
  11. This wasn't what i had planned for my Saturday! Changing a hose clamp the little bastard popped off and slid right down into the intercooler cue disassembling the front of the car to get it out.
  12. Fed it some full synthetic 5/40 oil as i think it had a sump full Repco's cheapest home brand "stuff" no idea what its viscosity was. It drained out clean and the new stuff is bloody hard to spot on the dipstick after a run around the block. Already feels better to drive hopefully the new halfshaft arrives early next week to tick off the last item on my preventive maintenance list. Then an exhaust will happen hopefully shortly....
  13. Have you got the sleeves on it? Or its just loose in the wet. My boy is super keen on one so am i.
  14. Was advertised as a 4 motion after looking under it after a test drive it isn't, the owner harped on about though it being 4wd. 1 diff less to break got a decent discount for it not been 4wd too.
  15. I just dont learn I guess. I haven't spent more than $400 bucks I've wanted a turbo Audi or vw product for 10+ years I dont expect to daily it for much longer fortunately. To be fair to the last one it only ever got a bit thirsty after I refused to put it into a shop because "I fix my own stuff" once I did it cost me beer and was mint. My late model toyotas and hondas I've owned if they stopped they weren't going anywhere. Neither of these Vws stopped getting me to work despite minor running issues. I'm now trying to get this one perfect for weekend cruising and a bit of track fun without breaking.
  16. Wow harsh. Haven't you had the same experience with a car though?
  17. If you can get those front diff subframe mounts higher do it my mk1 which wasn't overly low smacked them into everything. One of my cars suffered a buckled floor from a speed bump stopping me in my tracks.
  18. Another Rockauto order on it's way so will have a solid driveline after I fit this halfshaft. Grabbed some new platinum sparkplugs too while I was at. Liking the 5 stage auto shifts real crisp and snappy and its 2018 I'm not changing gears in traffic myself.
  19. Car did not like having the N75 (boost control) valve pulled. Barely started 2-3 restarts before it idled right then ran a bit weird and jerky for 30 minutes now its good holds boost it used to trail off pretty bad.
  20. Front springs could be snipped a little back I might compress. Then add some big sway bars to make it Daily driver friendly but happy in the corners I will at least do meremere but Hampton downs looks like fun too.
  21. Nah they caused the wheels to rub so left them in the old car I just sold.
  22. New Boost control valve took forever to arrive hopefully ticks off the boost fluctuation I seem to get at the end of long drives. It's the gold one. Still a bit of a vibration in the front it is far far better think I might do the right hand half shaft to close that chapter.
  23. Quick squirt with the hose job done. Needs to be a little lower.
  24. First true WOT run as before the vibration got pretty horrible and I didn't want to hurt the gearbox. Now goes hard for what it is owes me $4200 so thats ok by me, beats the engine swap I was going to do on the old one. Oh and a whole heap of things I didn't know it could do have fired up with the new fuse box yay!
  25. Job done wasn't too bad I had to buy triple star set to get driveshaft shit off the gearbox which was fiddly as buggery. Now to clean the grease of 2 socket sets the floor the walls and the cat.
