  1. Sprocket arrived its about as big as i can go without it being too close to the ground. If i stick with 420 chain i could hypothetically stick my V-twin on for when i want i dont know....... tow a trailer or pull out trees. I will get some go kart wheels on eventually but these will do till they burst, i know my son will do his best to kill them anyway.
  2. Wrap some copper wire around in the groove.... sounds dodgy cos it is. Is there the possibility of a big single cylinder Honda GX set of rings fitting? At least their easy to obtain.
  3. Yeah i was hoping i could use it in some way whether as a sprocket or disc brake carrier. Will get a better idea if i can indeed use it once it arrives nonetheless im sure parts of it can go on, im keen to get it Mobile asap as my motivation to finish things kicks in as soon as i get something to move under its own power. Once it moves i can refine it with my boy hes results driven too.
  4. The hoarding of parts begins LT50 sprocket and carrier for $20 will do. Will buy a clutch when i know what chain pitch im working with.
  5. You going to run it direct drive to the tyre or use a centrifugal clutch? I really need to build something 2 stroke as they seem to work a treat on your projects.
  6. I might use the carby off my v-twin its choking the twin but would be a huge upgrade on this if i can get it to not overfuel by changing jets etc. Finding same issue with the on off throttle with my Robin carby it wont get to an idle as it is but happy anywhere between around 2k rpm and 4k+. Probably manufactured without any intention of going under 2000rpm. My little 2.5hp motors carb had no provision to idle. I bunged a weedeater one on it which cured it.
  7. I like it should fit in my car It does fit on my roof racks nicely as at is.
  8. Im totally riding this to get the milk and bread..... plan is remove tank from top of motor to somewhere else and chuck a seat over the top of engine to get looking a bit more um low key. Should be able to get the seat a good 100mm lower so might be a bit more stable.
  9. pretty meaty steering sutup might think about adding some shocks and springs has a wobble bar kind of arrangement so there is some articulation.
  10. My son spent a few hours chipping off the battery trays they were pretty flaky but are pretty thick steel so came more than usable for the engines mounting. I whipped the seat pole off and sat the engine in a far better spot. Some arse has cut the axle in 2 so I'll have to make a sleeve up to join it back together, i should be able use it to mount the disc brake and sprocket to so will be a win once finished.
  11. Cool idea no doubt once it is moving an idea will come to me $300us is a bit over budget Need a fibreglass vw combi body maybe?
  12. I must resist the urge to encourage helping make this dangerous..... my son isn't much of a speed demon so 5hp will get the job done he is keen on pvc sleeves on the rear tyres though. That to me is promising.
  13. Cant wait to see this on jet A1. Is that a tiller attachment?
  14. Picked up this slightly flakey but overall very solid mobility scooter rolling chassis tonight for $25. My son will be in charge of this project hes stripped all the lame wheelchair stuff off wiring and gearbox etc..... has a motor for it as you can see an hour after it got home its starting to resemble something else and cool. Rad steering setup on it gets mad lock and everything is built overkill to lug around the morbidly obese.
  15. @peteretepJust saves peak load for destruction testing i basically only do destructive testing with it as an indication only excercise. It is calibrated for load testing though. Have a 200t bed for anything else that needs to be destructed which does printouts graphs and data, has thick steel guards over it to capture any shrapnel its a cringeworthy excercise watching the graph on that puppy! You know whats coming but you still jump.
  16. I Scrapheap specced this testbed for chain testing out of cast offs at work to save me carting things to a different branch. Its mint! Have done some destruction testing using it its not broken a sweat at all. Converted hydraulic pump to 230v from 12 volt, has a 50ton loadcell in it for load testing though ive dialed it back to 30t for simplicity sake 50t test components are fucking huge. Thats a 50t shackle hanging off to the right.
  17. The pit bike powered one stands out as been a rocket on the straights. Love it!
  18. My "Engine" certainly does. This image keeps coming to mind though
  19. Whats top speed of this contraption? considering this for tip runs with my trailer as i have my v twin that could be perfect and is only 2k's along back roads. cheaper than a tow bar on a vw.....
  20. Im so bloody tempted i just have no way of getting it home....... be a long drive.
  21. Scanned again today after clocking up 600ks Code came up for air loss between turbo and throttle. So pulled the diverter valve and cracked it open luckily its been replaced with a GFB unit. Surprisingly it doesn't run a seat for the plunger to seal on so i wound it down a bit harder to try get it seated firmer and will see about some new o rings that the plunger seals on.
  22. Finally bought a VCDS lead and licensed Software version and plugged in tonight and did a full scan fuck me this had a "list" as long as my arm of fault codes. Ive saved them cleared and rescanned only one came back throttle body related so i sussed out the procedure for an adaptation did it, rescanned and now its happy. The amount of things that also suddenly seem happy now is impressive. I recently hired a tech at work who is fluent in obd programming mitsi's hes built a 10 second lancer so i think i can trust him to have a crack at this..... after he has a practice on his Jetta hes just bought.
