  1. Turbo is pretty fresh looking im hoping its been swapped out for a k04 or some hybrid. Will try get a mirror up and read the ID on it, im not leaning on it much at present till know it is all up to scratch now i know how much its been tweaked. It certainly doesn't fuck around when you stand on it!
  2. Its an import so they must of banged a stock exhaust on to comply and register it in nz, It is fitted with a very thick intercooler in the stock location and GFB plumbback diverter valve with a K&N panel filter and is only what ive noticed, @00quattro00 any idea what else it might have been fitted with to support this level of boost? Just so i can research and check its all as it should be. Considering it was supposed to be stock and i bought it off an 80 year old it seems to be well cranked up.
  3. Will get one of these ordered off Ebay and get it on in new year $450 NZD delivered cant go too wrong, reviews are good will probably need to lengthen it a bit.
  4. Fitted a boost gauge this weekend and think i may of Figured out why this thing is temperamental highly strung and runs rough after a decent bit of WOT....... its running 21psi of boost! And on a standard cat and exhaust which looks suspiciously like a na one at that. So my list of mods to be done in new year has shrunk back to just a 3" exhaust. No wonder it hates these 25+ c days.
  5. All road legal again ignore the rego label im waiting on one to arrive in post. Yay scooters! Theyre fixed too.... now to go somewhere other than my street.
  6. Ive got the list of things needing attention down to 3 recurring faults which dont stop me driving it its just irksome. When this thing is on song its a hoot to drive! Ive landed a new better paying job for next year so will chase more power with some tuning and a exhaust and buy a small ecobox to daily. just ordered a new oem airflow meter today as the original is near death.
  7. So i think i know more about Volkswagen control systems then i ever thought i needed to know. And it boils down to this.....
  8. Tailgate is coming along nicely. It drops into a recess in the trailer body has a piece of angle iron across the top to strengthen it and be an attachment point which im setting up with lynch pins this time so it can be popped out without tools. Going to fill a few holes and keep laying on the enamel till it looks like a metal panel, been using my roof cavity as a bake oven so i got 3 coats on in 2 hours.
  9. I think anything (people included) would perform better if you didnt force feed spent shit back into the intake. Cooler intake charge would surely be the start of the benefits #maynotcontainactualfacts
  10. Whats the profile ? Cant afford to go much higher than whats on there. With right tyres if i jackknife this against a curb i can more or less ride my scooter straight on with no ramp which is a handy feature.
  11. If anyone has 2x 15" tyres cheap off something small id be keen to get these dry rotted 40 year old ones off asap for some peace of mind. And also to level it out as its jacked as on these 185 90 15's that are originally from a triumph TR5 makes it a bit shit to load scooters on.
  12. Should scrub up with some primer and house paint.
  13. Dug this thing out today as i sold my car that had a tow bar early this year. Finally found one for the golf that wasnt $700. The advantages of an aluminum trailer are after complete neglect they just need a good water blasting and grease in the bearings ready to roll again. My wooden tailgate needs a fresh coat of paint though.
  14. I once roto moulded a 30 litre polyethylene sub box had 15 kg of plastic and 4kg of sand was a BEAST! the sand stuck to the inside wall and deadened any drummyness you get with wood. Can imagine concrete would be similar qualities. cutting gritty plastic was a right cunt how do you cut the hole in concrete at home? Cool projects too.
  15. I need to rethink the front of this thing starting to feel sketchy again fork bearings are suffering a bit. If anyone has some pit bike forks and a frame i could chop up id be keen. Tightened bearings up and took it for a blat around an empty subdivision today.
  16. Does your brake vacuum line have a check valve in it? Might be in backwards or just jammed shut.
  17. Scored half a body off a mobility scooter Barry It aint pretty but it'll do.
  18. Have this at work in Hamilton now as my lunch bar runner hasn't missed a beat in a fortnight so far. 1.5l of petrol doesn't last long though its flat out at 50. It can go faster but i doubt it would live long over 5000rpm needs a cog swap to give it some legs but will likely kill the clutch as it is only a 9hp rated one.
  19. Hmm looking very very promising this is on a front rim which is very snug. So will adapt this to the back first which needs to get on with pulling its weight a bit better in the braking stakes, the rim is far wider out back so more room for the caliper ideally will run twin discs on the front. Plan is a big spacer to pick up the discs 6 holes and bolt through to the original 3 holes on the rim. Probably go 5-10mm thick so i can tap into it for the cap screws.
  20. I hope the cop's pepper sprayed him after you left.
  21. My son (Aka Tortoise) gave this thing death yesterday round the backstreets of work i was quite surprised how comfortable he seemed on it. all 4 tyres were so bloody hot and sticky i had to hose it off before loading in the boot of the car to stop it eating the carpet. It needs some Go kart rims and tyres now if anyone has some floating about for a good price.
  22. I rigged up this gross brake inspired by the design disasters thread. Amazingly it works blindingly well bringing it to a screeching halt with little effort.
  23. I cut the front axle and set it up with 20 degrees of caster 1.5 degrees of camber 1.5 mm of toe ended up been magic! I had to re-instate the front axles wobble arrangement as it would lift a wheel when turning and pull left quite strongly. So this thing is ridiculous fun now it corners at wide open throttle ive yet to to find top end but its confidence inspiring the steering self centers and everything.
  24. So for what ever reason the carb despite been flogged out is now working again...... perfectly once i set the idle. Which led to my son complaining about how sketch it is at anything faster then running pace, seeing as Oldschool.co.nz has been down i had some free time and an angle grinder and a wheel alignment sheet as a guide.
  25. So this thing needs a new carb the throttle shaft is utterly flogged out and it will randomly not idle consistantly and has started dribbling petrol. Any ideas as to what size Ebay special i need to order? Its 180ish cc could turn to 4500-5000rpm now the governor is out.
