  1. Found an old build thread from 2010 of a vs wagon a guy put a monster turbo on, turns out if you flip the passengers manifold it's perfect. Just needs flange lopped off a 45 degree bend welded on and old Egr port once reemed out will be a mint wastgate location. Also driver side if I use a passengers manifold supposedly should exit under power steering pump ready to just cross over.
  2. So it's single scroll, 2.5" v band mount, was curious if it would be better to run dual gates or not eg one for each bank of the v6. One massive gate would make plumbing far easier. Aiming to start at 14-15 psi with any luck that'll be pretty peppy the block will take that no problem.
  3. I've had a lot of issues with crank angle sensors so much so I'm going to build the exhaust crossover pipe as low as possible so I can still get the harmonic balancer off. turbo is all v band though so would be easy to pull it off if it did clash with servicing the front of engine.
  4. What's the go with external wastegate sizing? Got to be some science behind that. Or do I just go large?
  5. Injector placement question, with my turbo Holden/buick l67 build I still have l67 heads which have a injector boss milled into them right above the inlet valve. I will be running a standard Ecotec inlet manifold which also has Injector bosses in the intake about 70mm further back up the port so one set needs to be blocked off (probably with Welch plugs). Would there be any advantages one over the other?
  6. Just ordered some 850cc injectors so I've got plenty of headroom incase e85 becomes available at pump again and I decide to go forged rods and pistons down the track and try make 500hp at the wheels its got plenty of juice available. Started looking where to jam turbo, definitely passengers side wont know where it will physically fit till turbo arrives plenty of room for a 3.5" dump pipe. Obviously getting drivers side exhaust over to other side of engine bay is going to need doing will go across front of engine no issues lots of open space there. Something like the below will probably work best enough room for MAF and air filter and straight shot out then down for exhaust.
  7. Must of got his hands on some Triumph 2500 Lucas radiator grot, ive had worse just wast expecting it this far into the 2020's.
  8. All done frame will get a tidy up at a later date, few scabby areas to touch up but it looks pretty good at a glance, Did a h4 led headlight upgrade on it too no chance of this thing been missed now! Also mixed another batch and resprayed the plastics on my sons dirtbike too I really like it light purple to a titanium looks sick!
  9. Rocketlab can print in Inconel and are staffed by petrolheads just @ them on instagram see if you can convince somebody to "trial" something for you as a a piping test or something.
  10. So im not going supercharged anymore..... Been following a series on YouTube by Street Machine with a L67 in a VN they just fitted all the gear I was going to use and it was a bit average, well it worked but not 6 grand worth of parts worth of gain.
  11. Your probably right. Just talking with the supplier about sizing as they have some knowledge with my engine which is good. It's ordered they are putting it together to suit. Power wise hadn't really put a number on it but probably 400hp at the wheels once I do a few more things to make it last. Blower is sold so im committed now.
  12. So taking what ive read above adding some compromise and a few hours of research I found a different version of the first turbo I saw. V Bands for almost everything no internal wastegate. As I'll fabricate all the manifolds and exhaust a v band setup will make that so much simpler. https://www.trademe.co.nz/3411434776 0.83 A/R Still roller bearing but this brand seem to have a pretty good reputation for been reliable, i won't be doing track days or burnouts to frequently so I think I might be ok. And the photo is of 2 on a buick v6....
  13. They ran a GT45 on that engine with the blower too! 23psi manifold pressure would love to know what temps were out of the blower. Car is set up with 600hp worth of fuel pump now more if I go AN-8 fuel line, I may build an engine later but for now setting up with a turbo with some headroom for later on would it be terrible to go the GTX3582R? As for the bearing types I hadn't thought about that the roller bearings letting go, ive killed a few plain bush bearings before hence I thought it'd be an upgrade and less resistance to spin up. China been China I get what you mean
  14. Aim is a lazy weekend car that wouldn't be unbearable as a daily. When I say lazy I mean if it came on boost at 3000-3500rpm that would be perfect so I could still amble around and just chop down a gear to get it cooking. 2500rpm high stall converter will get done with a shift kit to help it hold together. Not after massive power as that will break diffs and gearboxes if it's faster than a ls1 that would also be pretty pleasing and probably do.
  15. Got a spurt of enthusiasm today so painted this nugget, paint is 7/10 but looks pretty damn good considering I only primed some of the plastics. Meh. Looks zillion times better. I did go chameleon paint as well glad I did looks awesome and isn't too flamboyant.
  16. @kpr What's horrible superchargers or the L67? Any opinions on wastegates? Internal or external at what point should I be thinking of going external.
  17. So what ive read from the above is....... I need to look for a A, a Barra B, a smaller turbo if I don't want lag. My only aim is a 12 second quarter have factored in a high stall converter or manual box might be needed to make this happen as well as some diff gears. Realistically I'd probably be happy to just have it go really well and not blow up providing it drives nice.
  18. Got a a long winded holden L67 build going on at home the supply of supercharger options that will make good power reliably and easily are actually a pain in butt to obtain. Years ago I decided on this engine but tech has since moved on since I started all the cool stuff I wanted isn't available anymore for the supercharger. So I've 90% decided to ditch the blower and go single turbo as it would give me the ability to turn the boost up as desired without pulley and belt swaps, what should I be considering EG: internal/external wastegates sizing and bearing types. My research has led me to look at an XR6 Gt3582 off a Barra as they have an internal wastegate to simplify plumbing the exhaust and are on a similar size engine. Specs of one ive found: PULSAR GTX3582R GEN 2 for XR6 Falcon Territory to replace the factory GT3582 turbo this turbo comes with 0.82A/R T3 inlet 5-bolt outlet BRAND NEW Tags: ball bearing, billet compressor wheel, G Series *New Aerodynamic 10 blade billet compressor wheel flow more air over the stock cast or Gen1 11 blade billet wheel *New Aerodynamic 9 blade turbine wheel, less weight, lower inertia, and higher flowability *Genuine structure and rebuildable dual ceramic ball bearing system *Larger 0.72A/R compressor cover with Anti-Surge 4" inlet 1.06A/R turbine housing with larger 38mm wastegate hole and 43mm flap over stock housing *Billet actuator with black anodized coating *3 Layer Stainless Steel 5 Bolt Gasket Description Compressor Wheel: 65.7X82.6mm(extended tip diameter: 85.29mm) Turbine Wheel: 68X62.3mm *Compressor Inlet: 4" Hose *Compressor Outlet: 2.5" Hose *Turbine Inlet: T3 Open *Turbine Outlet: 5 Bolt *Water Ports: -6AN *Oil Feed: -4AN to the Oil Restrictor *Oil Drain: Std T3 Oil Drain Flange *Actuator working pressure: 14psi Application: Replacement for factory XR6 GT3582R GT3576R Turbos.
  19. I've got a VCDS lead I could part with if you want to try some advanced stuff. PM me.
  20. It's off one of those kmart Drift trikes surprisingly good fit for an adults ass. Litteraly every inorganic or tip ship will have them
  21. The sheer volume of cannabis and pie crumbs removed from the crevices of the passenger seat was remarkable! Like a solid tennis ball size. Not a fan so out on lawn which the local magpies found not even deliberately.
  22. Added 2 sets of alpine components these have a nice tweeter to point at your face (even in the back) everything in stock speaker pods so nice and crisp no rattles. Taken better part of 2 days to swap all the upholstery over as my body loom had no power for passenger seat and needed some fettling in diagnostic console on laptop to make airbags talk to the controller, all works mint now. Spent the cash on a install kit for head unit which looks sweet. This is the weapon of choice for road trips as it's a big armchair.
  23. Seeing as I can't obtain engine parts why not fit an obnoxiously big stereo and leather upholstery... it's not easy hiding 2 gauge cabling but it's done aided by pulling the interior to 100's of pieces even managed to snake through the chassis under seat so no lumps showing
