  1. Fuck me that was an essay and a half haha Brackets for Brock-Lee: http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?s=69c1cd590e5a075dcc0cf83d52d2b321&t=80410 Stupid front subframe setup: Rear exhaust getting binned:
  2. Thanks everyoneeeeee, Aaron I usually use the Constellation bus stop so you'll see it parked on the street quite often, that lot fills waaaay to early. I'm too impatient to wait till I'm healed so will be reaching out for help soon haha, appreciate it. 8kg front/6kg rear. The car is deceptively light at around a tonne. Have a spare rear subframe in the garage, it'll get slotted at the trailing arm mounting points and brackets welded on. Eccentric bushes won't help me at this height. Should give me the camber/toe adjustment range I need to bring it within specs and bring the wheel closer to the fender. IIRC the e3 has a similar rear setup? I'll find the link for you. The front isn't too bad, not nearly as bad as the 4cylinder e30's/e36's with their m4x engines that hang bloody low. But the subframe is stupid and will need a notch to give the control arms a bit of range. Exhaust is stupid low, crossmember also but to a lesser extent. About an inch lower at the rear and 2-3 at the front will be ideal, bit of forward rake but even arch gap, or lack of. Questions are great, helps me think out what needs doing! Coilovers are fortune auto's valved accordingly. Barry did all the math, ordered direct from 'murica and did the welding for the fronts. Powerball come at me. Will settle for $40k scratchie win.
  3. Sold the engine I was hanging on to and finally picked these up, huge thanks to Barry at MPR for his work, welds look awesome and specs are exactly what I was after. Fitted the rears in, can lay the chassis on the ground without touching preload but decided to be a bit conservative considering the axles are resting on the exhaust and alignment is a bit of a laugh at the moment. Front install will have to wait, wrist surgery means it's out of action for a good while. A copious amount of beer happens to be in the garage just incase a couple of GC's do randomly stop by and help put in them in though. /ahem Then exhaust reroute, then alignment tabs, then slam, oh also needs a decent cut/polish too, oxidised white is average. k thats my to do list for now.
  4. Haha alright alright I'll just gun it.
  5. Correct Ned, said planks of wood were left at a certain Wilson carpark in town so I was asking just in case.
  6. Haha yeah that crest is where it's painful, higher speed won't save me this time.
  7. I'll be there. Does anyone have a couple of spare planks of wood they can bring along? New lows means I get stuck on multi storey parking lot ramps and the one at the meet is pretty steep, not liking my chances :S
  8. Heya Clint, what's the go with having brackets welded onto existing trailing arm mounting points (welding done on rear subframe) so that I'm able to get some camber/toe adjustability? What I'm looking at purchasing: http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80410 There's an example further down the page. Does it need to be mentioned for a cert? Crack testing needed? Thanks.
  9. I would be mighty stoked with some pictures man, hopefully sometime when the weather clears and I've been able to trick some poor bugger into polishing the car.
  10. Couldn't decide, flipped a coin, 13's are staying haha
  11. Originality has never been a big deal imo, if it looks good, it looks good. Might give them a test fit in the coming week. Though widening the ssr's would be sweeter in the long run (well into next year). Engine work first. Have walked outside to stare at the wheels 3 times in the last 2 hours fml.
  12. Yeah looking at those pics I think I like the mk3's more. Maybe it's just me getting bored/not actually stepping back to appreciate what I've got enough. Shit thanks for correcting me, 14's make it more tempting though. Hmmm
  13. Thought I'd show where the car is now, nothing much has changed, swapped the springs out, rides pretty average due to stock shocks though. Still saving for cert and swapping rear trailing arms for disk brake conversion before putting coilovers in, will go a bit lower but not much I think, rear needs to be level/not a big fan of rake on these cars. Also, seriously tempted to offer a trade of these wheels for a set of watanabe's that I've seen for sale that are 14x7.5 -3 (thanks Beaver) all round. These are x7/7.5 +4 for reference. What do you guys think? I like both and keeping changing my mind ha. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/34440-berjjjs-e21/
  14. Rats dude, best of luck with the insurance co. Whether 3rd party or full you should get a copy of your contract in print/go over it well because either way you might have to know your shit very well very soon, they can be bastards.
  15. Or a big sign at the bottom of the ramp labelled 'newschool/oldschool' with arrows pointing in the respective directions? Who's head is big enough to wear a cone?
  16. Apologies for almost backing into you.. twice
  17. Awesome meet. Again, thanks Tara for cleaning up. Don't see an issue with Facebook event, but rules should be stated clearly on the fb page too for those who reckon it's sweet to leave their shit behind/state OS cars only. Maybe enforce split level parking, say dailies lower level & OS cars up the ramp? (Or vice versa depending on weather). Saw a bunch of sweet rides that hadn't shown up previously. A+ would trade again
  18. Haha don't mind sleaze spec, on ramp is nearby for quick getaway regardless. What time?
  19. North Shore pre meet on at backyard this time?
  20. Btw, if you're looking at buying a heap of shit at once, I highly recommend http://www.wallothnesch.com (use their catalogues rather than web selection, more stock). Justifies shipping costs (which aren't that bad really), cheap, and very easy to deal with in terms of getting past those pesky customs charges. BMW clusters suck, always.
  21. Will be there. Possible to grab a sticker off you also Chris? Pulled the last off prev. ride & windows have been too bare since!
  22. Dunno man, I reckon it's a lush combo
