  1. Finally purchased a car I have been after for a long time now, the Heron MJ1. Designed and built in NZ, the car features a fully Fibreglass Chassis with a 2L Fiat Twin Cam engine and 5 speed Skoda transaxle gearbox. About 25 were built with 13 of these being the "production" factory built version. After years of watching Trademe one finally came up in Nelson that was in my price range: Bought it and got it shipped back to Auckland (took a month after various delays..): Overall it is pretty tidy, just needs a few minor repairs.
  2. Got there in my grandfather's 1970 Impala just as everyone else was leaving, need to get more organised (I was in time for all the rain though). Also found that it barely clears the judder bumps since we changed the wheels, might need bigger tyres...
  3. Been a bit slack this month, got some new plates for it and stuck them on. Undecided if I should paint the bumpers or leave them as is, kinda suits having them the way they are? Still need to get the missing trim pieces sorted (no one has parts for these locally?!), got a WOF on it so next weeks job is to get it registered with the new plates
  4. Been way too busy last month to even touch the car, bumpers are stipped but not sure if I should paint them or leave them as-is (since the rest of the paint on the car is falling off..) "New" plates on the car Also need to clean the engine to try and find the source of the oil leak, although I suppose it is to be expected with 360,000 of wear and tear.
  5. Why is everything I want to buy on the other side of the country?
  6. New tail lights arrived from Germany: Out with the old, in with the new sparkly replacements: Done, big improvement: Gave the car a quick clean, bumpers removed to be painted. Forgot to take a photo of the engine bay, will try and remember this afternoon.
  7. Doesn't actually need a whole lot, everything still works as it should, drives and stops in a straight line etc. Tail lights, one side totally smashed and the other is cracked (someone glued another random bit of red lense where it had also been smashed. Rust, around boot door and below drivers door but nothing major. Tyres Oil leak, the entire bottom of the engine and gearbox was covered with thick oil. We may have resolved the oil leak last night while changing the filters and oil, appears someone damaged the seal on the old filter when it was installed. New tail lights arrived from Germany yesterday so that will be tomorrows job. New tyres also ordered today.

  9. Just picked up a Volvo 240 Wagon, 2.3L of raw Swedish fury, a car so good it outlived it successor in production. The Soviet's being the fine connoisseurs they were, decided this was the model they must have for their embassy and so it was purchased, by them, new in 1988. 363,000 KM's later (the odometer stopped working shortly after) here it is: First job is to get it road legal..
  10. The Piazza survived the pizza trip, although the exhaust cracked in half on the way back..
  11. I know someone who has a spare Piazza body needing an engine though
  12.
