67 Morris 1100, the family wagon

A year ago I sold my mk3 1300, and have been regretting it. But, house sale and less shed means less toys, right? Not if you're an idiot. 

 

So my wife showed me this wee gem on Marketplace (no FB for me, ironically to stop me buying stupid shit on marketplace) 

So we bought it a couple hours later. Fairly straight, wof/reg and honest car. Has a big block 1275 swap, and no mufflers. Perfect! 

Have been running around in it locally for a couple months and absolutely love it to bits. 

I found a roof rack in our shed, so slapped that on the top. Lovely! 

Plans are, new carpet. Lots of picnics.

Got the old girl back out the shed to prep for next wof 

Cleaned up the surface rust on the rear boot floor seam

Washer fluid manual pump jobbie has decided it is no longer a functioning part of this family. 

Have to check and adjust the brakes, last time we took it out it must have been casually dragging a shoe and boiled the fluid, that was super neat.

Needs a cooling system birthday desperately 

Have a friend who will sort the upholstery issues, should probably throw a new carpet set in too, original carpets are rooted

Looking forward to putting it back in to town duties, the wee fella loves it to bits. Has been sitting in the shed for yonks next to the MX5 which also never gets used, sigh. Some winter picnics will toughen the 2 year old up...

Trying to find an original map holder, interior light lens and a bonnet badge without any luck

Turns out the washer pump just needed bleeding. And then once it got head (haha) it shagged all the 56 year old hoses. Popped down to local supplier and have replaced all the hose now, happy days. 

Sorted the rattles in the driver's door, turns out everything was loose.

Horn fixed. It seems like some nameless small handed weapon has moved the indicator cluster away from the slip ring, so no sparkling on the beepbeep bits was happening.

Did some Barry stuff. Got to have pictures of some of the cars in the shed to remind the wife of why I'm such a catch

I decided to take the 1100 on an overnight camping trip up to the massive city of Norsewood on the 2nd. 

Got all packed up and headed out of town, flying along at 70mph, lining up an overtake on a depressing Qashqai. Aaaaand the fuel pump died.

Pulled the old girl over and diagnosed it was the pump, which incidentally was the only spare I wasn't carrying because it was a relatively new looking replacement. Can't fix an non-points pump up a side road sadly. 

Called a mate out, we fitted a generic Chinese ticker pump and all was well. 

I continued on my way, the speedo stopped working, oh well. 

The indicators stopped working, oh well.

 

And a couple km away from my destination, plodding down a shingle road....the brakes failed. Neat! 

Toddled on gently, got to destination and had a looksie, fluid has boiled over in a huge way. Both front wheels are as hot as heck, right rear was warm, left was cold. Assuming a stuck pressure valve. 

So, Nannie will take a trailer ride home on Saturday and due to how hot the brakes got ill just replace the lot

 

I moved her a few km up the road on the next morning and brakes had re-appeared. But even I wouldn't trust that! And the speedo came back, she's a good girl really. 

 

So, a brake rebuild and I really should throw a cooling system at her. And another SU style fuel pump. Fun times
