slopez
Hi all, I am mucking around sticking some bronze guide liners into an old head that I have, one of the guides has a crack in it. I know to fix this properly I should get a 1/2" diameter diameter guide stuck in buut I would rather not, I was thinking that I could cut the guide for a positive valve seal which would give me the space to press fit a sleeve onto the top of the guide, holding it together. If anyone feels like giving an opinion on the brilliance/stupidity of this idea please do...
GregT
Reducing the OD at the top is more likely IMO to have a piece break out. I'd bite the bullet and replace the guide. Qualifying that, I'll say I've made and fitted a shitload of bike valve guides - and a few car engines too. 1
