Popular Post vk327
Since iv entered this thing in OS drags this year, its about time i chucked up a post about one of my latest money pits.... 1986 VK Royale (vk and a half efi 3.3) After a palmy swap meet road trip a couple of years ago in this VK my mate Chris offered me this... so it came home with me. I drove it for a while as is fixing a few issues and decided to sell off my other VK as a rolling body (kept the 327 for our HQ more in that some other time) also kept all the good bits for this one (suspension seats etc) then came the decision to do something different... and so it all started with a cheap second hand gt35 turbo off facebook (which turned out to be rooted) then came the Garrett turbo and the turbosmart bits and the link G4 and the gearbox, clutch, driveshaft and the full engine build.... and into the pit of $$ this car goes to save me rambling on Ill let the pictures do the talking.... also discuss here:

Popular Post vk327
Passed clean sheet thru cert so stoked with that, brought myself a new toy so wish i had done it sooner. Took it up to Protune to chuck on the hub dyno... and my waste gate is too small, spiking 18psi of angry boost pixies at 3500rpm, aiming to run 7psi base with control up to 12psi to avoid splitting the crank from the block, ah well least the tune is now safe till i can fit up a larger gate. Oh also the camaro t5 gearbox i had fitted was stuffed so in a week had a commodore v6 t5 input shaft modified to fit, fabricated a new mount, bolted that up last wednesday and drove 1200km around northland for gumboot rally over the weekend, which Im super happy with how the car went, super responsive and torquey down low even with a low MAP/RPM limit, plus all the Spooley turbo noises
Popular Post vk327
Had a rocker adjuster come loose sounding like an angry dwarf with a pickaxe stuck in the top end, easy enough fix didnt break anything and was just down the road from home. Decided to throw some more $$ in the because turbo bucket, brought a new 50mm wastegate to sort out the angry boost pixies, Booked for back on the dyno the week before drag day....
vk327
Well back on the dyno at protune yesterday, made some good power (175rwkw 445nm at 11psi) but found an oil leak, seems like this car just dont like dynos haha, at least i was only cleaning up an oil puddle on the dyno and not engine pieces Got home and checked it out, pulled the clutch dust cover...bonus its not the rear main rope seal. Waiting on an engine support bar to arrive and il drop the sump clean it up Gonna weld in a couple of sump breathers and go to town with the rtv Oh and all before drag day...
Popular Post vk327
So after a few hours sleep after nightshift, got keen and stuck into pulling the sump since another new tool arrived the engine support beam made this way easier than having to pull the engine. Got the k frame out, sump off, welded in a couple breather fittings and went to town with the rtv and new gaskets. Pics tell the story better, also pic of how iv done the external 5/8" oil pickup in the sump. Fingers crossed this sorts the leaks. Bring on drag day

Popular Post vk327
Been chipping away at the massive list of jobs still a heap of little things to finish up but... new headliner in, fitted all the seals and in with the glass, trims and interior back together, just finished off all the plumbing and wiring tonight just the AC lines left to finish once I fit the evap core. Getting close to firing it back up again as soon as I get the rocker cover & taillights back from pinstriping. then I'd better get onto assembling the pile of stainless I have here into a new exhaust. Hopefully have it all sorted an back on the dyno for tune tweaks all before drags 29
Popular Post vk327
Been smashing thru the jobs, brakes and clutch all bled up, had the dash out and back in to refit the ac core with new tx valve, finished all the ac lines and pulled vacuum so that's all ready to gas up. Powered up and configured the new ecu, tested everything from the ecu and sensors all working. Flushed and pressure tested the fuel system, dump pipe off the turbo all welded and wrapped. just leaves the rocker cover to fit and exhaust to build Speaking of Rocker cover, I just picked up that and the rest of the bits from pin striping
