Paccy
Hey Guys and Girls just a question to anyone out there who may have or know where I can obtain a 4.5 ft stainless tuning wire for a 9ft mobile whip, there must still be some out there somewhere. From "back in the day" Pacific Aerials in Auckland use to be in Turonui Road in Takanini and it was easy to get parts but they have moved to East Tamaki and the dont stock them any more. I found Dr John (if anyone remembers who he is) CB Guru, he told me he bought alot of their stock they had left but I think he may have run out. I managed to get some of the pacific bases off trademe a couple of years ago, I find these work better than the GME ones. Theres not alot of trafic on air much anymore but hey its a hobby and my internet connection sucks so bad (thanks to corus). So if you can help that would be awesome.

Paccy
Yeah mate decided to get back into it when I was livin in Mangere Bridge a couple of yrs ago, we moved recently rural Takaninni or what the call rural (well rural enough to have crap internet lol) and went to put my Station Master Mk1 up to find it had got broken in the move. Back in the day I had a 18 ft Pulsar home base Antenna and guess what I found another one by pure accident last week that was still up but hadnt been used for 10 or so yrs in this guys back yard as i was driving through takaninni and offered him $30 and got it so I replaced all the screws with stainless ones and threw it up on the water pipe and away she went. I have a few sets I have collected over the last couple of yrs I got a grant in the car and an AX144 in the mancave a couple of am sets aswell. I did contact a group of guys in Pukekohe and Port Waikato, theres 4 or 5 north of the harbour bridge and out west and 1 from memory in Waiheke Island.

SOHC
There is a spring maker in Onihunga for special springs, not car suspension they might sell stainless steel spring steel wire, it could be tapered out with the grinder with a flap wheel I reckon.
