jcrew
Hi guys, My question is, how do i know the correct cam tdc of 4g63 sohc carb engine? I saw the timing marks on the crank shaft pulley but for the camshaft iam having a hard time looking where would i line up the mark of the camgear. My main problem is I cannot lower down the ignition timing, it is set at 30 deg btdc, i cannot anymore rotate the distributor clockwise since it is the max settin, when i turn it on the opposite side the timing adds up so i know i have a problem with the cam timing. Your reply would be highly appreciated. Thank you guys.

downtrail
Pretty sure the car gear will have 2 marks thatll line up against the mating faces of the head and rocker cover. Itll only line up one way as they are offset from center
jcrew
Thanks for reply, yeah i am thinking of that too. When i line up the camgear the marking is lined up in the mating surface on the right side when your facing the camgear. Maybe iam thinking that the correct way is on the left side (the other side).
