sheepers
spent ages (like fucking ages) at Nicks shop last night trying to get spark. no joy, the module we were trying to use wouldn't switch the trigger coming from the dizzy pickup. but, i did manage to take the best parts from the two distributors and build one good one so the action plate is now a lot better and the air gap on the pickup is much more consistent. late in the evening we found a module for a 2TG on line so Nick is going to order that today and that should make it go. 2016-04-22_06-25-32 by sheepers, on Flickr

Popular Post sheepers
today i did a bit of stuffing about. nothing major just lots of little bits. so this car now features, a throttle pedal sun visors a rear view mirror with a switch dealio for night time driving arm rests actually connected to the doors fully functioning brakes (still have air in them i think but they work super duper) non fucked indicator, windscreen wiper and light switch stalk things that aren't covered in paint a new steering wheel (the "twin cam turbo" one i had on my blue car ages ago) a horn that works probably some other thing I've forgotten. and then i drove it around a bit. it goes exactly like a normal car that you get in and drive about without any hassle, i would happily drive it to Wellington tomorrow and I'm 100% sure it would make the trip without raising a sweat. i have no idea what a 2TG is supposed to go like I've never driven any others but this one seems to go OK. I'm going to ask Mike to take it for a hoon and see what he thinks. 2016-04-23_10-24-23 by sheepers, on Flickr
Popular Post sheepers
more of this, 2016-04-24_10-11-19 by sheepers, on Flickr resulted in more progress. namely fixing the ever shit handbrake mounting plate. celicas came from the factory with this bit fucked. I've never seen one that wasn't rooted. anywho, i welded some bits of flat bar into the floor to give it some strength and stop the handbrake from coming out of the floor. 2016-04-24_11-26-35 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-04-24_11-28-28 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-04-24_01-15-49 by sheepers, on Flickr there was also a massive hole cut in the floor for some reason so i made a panel that i can then attach a boot to to cover it up. 2016-04-24_05-10-57 by sheepers, on Flickr the other things i did today include welding up a small hole in the exhaust, cutting the rear muffler off to see how it sounded (loud, very loud) and changing the oil in the gearbox. yes, i changed the oil in the gearbox. i replaced the air that had previously been used to lubricate the gears with oil which has been a massive step forward in shift feel and quietness. i recommend oil in gearboxes, not air.
Popular Post sheepers
new rear muffler time. the one that was on the car was fucking shit and it sounded rubbish. i was able to scrounge back the old stainless steel one off the blue car that id given to Richie ages ago. after a bit of fucking around to get it to fit and to move the exhaust from above the diff mount its all gravy. sounds really good now its just loud but not too loud, perfect. 2016-04-25_09-44-21 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-04-25_02-48-12 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-04-25_02-49-53 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-04-25_02-50-02 by sheepers, on Flickr

Popular Post sheepers
fuck this thing is lush as fuck to drive. i don't know what it is about it but its fucking cool fun to hoon around in it. anywho, Richard (new owner) came over today and gave me a hand and we got heaps done. radio install is now complete. made a mounting plate thingo, ran the wires and installed she 6" speakers in the rear shelf. it all works and sounds mint. the other thing that got done today is we removed some height from the rear by removing the rubber spring seats from the top and bottom of the rear springs. and because i had them we put some 20mm spacers on the back to stick the wheels out more. its rubbing a tiny bit because of the ballon spec sidewalls. 225's on an 8" rim gives a pretty 32 ford spec tyre bulge. if it was running the same tyre on a 9 it would be sweet. or a 205 on this rim with the spacer. whatever. anywho. pixxx 2016-05-07_05-23-03 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-05-07_05-24-01 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-05-07_05-18-48 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-05-07_05-23-10 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-05-07_05-19-37 by sheepers, on Flickr

sheepers
Richard came over and gave me a hand today so we got some stuff done. made the last part of the centre console so the gearstick boot is done and its got a gearstick. the other thing we did was give the front a jiggle to see what might need replacing in the front end and it could use a coupe of new ball joints so ill get them this week and chuck them in. after that we roughly set up the toe and it was out by heaps so now thats its got some toe it feels heaps better in the front end. oh and during the week i fitted two drive shaft loops to it for cert. 2016-05-14_03-54-13 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-05-14_03-53-51 by sheepers, on Flickr
sheepers
lots of little things are being tidied up at the mo. i decided it needed new balljoints so i put them in. Richard was keen to replace all the bushes and steering components so i ordered a full set of parts from Ian at autolign and he was able to supply everything i needed in a couple of days. so new parts are, rear trailing arm bushes upper and lower panhard bushes castor arm bushes lower control inner arm bushes pitman arm drop arm inner and outer tie rod ends bal joints sway bar bushes which about covers every suspension bush and wear part on the car. and in other news its going down to midnight upholstery on saturday morning for the carpets and the seats to be done. heres a pic of most of the bits and the mess after doing the rear trailing arms. 2016-05-19_04-28-10 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-05-19_08-04-18 by sheepers, on Flickr
Popular Post sheepers
greg has done an amazing job on the seats and carpets. im super happy with how its come out. he's still got the back seats and the head rests (the one in the picture hasn't been done yet) to do and he'll drop them in to me on wednesday night. the front seats are so so so good. I'm really amazed at how good it looks!! can't recommend Greg and his team at Midnight Upholstery highly enough, super high quality work that really shows his skills, thanks Greg!!!!!!!! 2016-05-28_04-25-07 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-05-28_04-25-16 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-05-28_04-25-34 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-05-28_04-25-43 by sheepers, on Flickr
Popular Post sheepers
made some hub centering rings for the wheels. the front stub axel sticks out a bit and the wheel cap wouldn't fit so i made the front ones with a cap type thingo built in. 2016-05-30_08-46-29 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-05-30_09-00-04 by sheepers, on Flickr
Popular Post sheepers
its had the cert inspection and it failed on a couple of little things which I've remedied. Clint has re-checked it and its all done so the cert is sorted. I've been doing little jobs here and there but nothing exciting the only thing i took a photo of is the badges. I've got all the badges for it now I'm just waiting on the last one to turn up from the states. 2016-06-06_03-42-50 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-06-06_03-36-49 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-06-06_03-17-49 by sheepers, on Flickr
Popular Post sheepers
so the car has just come back from Greg's where it has had a full cut and polish. its pretty much done now. there are two things left to do, adjust the door glass so it seats in the rubber s better and paint the rear badge. thats it. its done. hard to believe really but it is. the new owner has joined OS and will be involved in OS events for the future so imi sure you'll see the car around. for what could be the last post by me in this thread here are some bad photos of trying to show how fucking amazing it looks after polishing. 2016-06-08_06-43-53 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-06-08_06-44-17 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-06-08_06-44-30 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-06-08_06-44-51 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-06-08_06-45-03 by sheepers, on Flickr
