galant_gto Posted November 4, 2011 Share Posted November 4, 2011 Hi all, Ive got a spare steering box for a 73 galant gto which has quite a bit of play also like what is in my car at the moment. Was looking at getting someone to recondition it and hopefully make it work like new. Anyone know someone or where i can get this done. Im in wellington but can post it anywhere so no biggy. Cheers. dwlee Posted November 4, 2011 Share Posted November 4, 2011 I can't help with someone to recondition the steering box, but have you tried adjusting the box and checked the oil level? The oil wont fix the play but will stop them wearing out as fast. If the adjustment is maxed out a recon/re-shimming is in order. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

rob.121 Posted November 5, 2011 Share Posted November 5, 2011 Try PG hydraulics, theyre are in auckland. I sent my steering box to them to be reconditioned and they did a good job. They knew without much information what was likely to be wrong with the steering box but would still need to pull it apart to see the damage. $350-750 he quoted me depending on work required.
