  1. Thanks for the replies guys
  2. Don't have any pics sorry, It is only a small amount but seems strange considering it hasn't been used yet. Bearings packed by hand and centre of rotor cavity filled with grease. I applied grease generously to the area between the rear bearing and dust seal. Also around the nut at the front.
  3. Hi all, quick question.. Am currently replacing front wheel bearings on an old mazda, i have noticed after a week or so of doing the job, (car hasn't been used, still on jack stands in shed) the grease is weeping out of the underside of the dust cap on the front and some on the rear rotor seal too, not enough to drip but there is a build up. Is this normal? was thinking maybe after some regular use it may clear up. The grease is Nulon extreme performance L80. wondering if i continue with the same grease for the bearings on the other side.
  4. Cool wagon, i spotted it parked in Austin st a few weeks back. Do you still have any of the original slant front parts left? I'm after a front bumper if its good, or failing that just a passenger side end cap.
  5. Not sure where i would find a factory elec dizzy for the L20b or which models came with them? I haven't seen one myself. Pertronix is one brand i saw online so could be a go'er
  6. Hi all, am planning on upgrading from points on a datsun L20b to one of the aftermarket bolt in electronic ignition conversion kits off trademe, ebay etc Im looking for advice from anybody who has done the same, what brand is best or anything else i need to consider?
  7. Has anybody had experience with fitting rear seat belts to a car that had none from the factory? how did you go about it and is there any specifics regarding things like the backing plate size/thickness when you bolt thru the floor? Just wanting to fit some basic 3point belts.
  8. where could i get Rit dye from? Did it rub off on the belts you did? New is an option, but if i can successfully dye the one i have would be ideal
  9. Hi all, wanting to change a pair of tan seat belts to black. is there a compatable dye that could be used that lasts and won't rub off? Belts are in good nic just wrong colour.
  10. Thanks spencer, will try that
  11. Hi all, i am wanting to repaint the inside of my ute tray with hippo 2pak bed liner. The deck has been stripped back to clean bare metal. Being a ute deck i want the hippo liner to have a solid base to stick to. As a primer i was going to use a 2pak epoxy primer. The question i have is it ok to brush it on? It may take abit longer to apply but i want to save the mess and hassle of having to spray when surface finish is not important as the hippo liner going on top is heavily textured anyhow.
  12. Your B1600's looking awesome. You mention new cab mounts and bolts, where did you get them from?
  13. Thanks fellas, sorted! just took a wheel off and looks to be 5x114mm pcd, so theres a few easy & common suggestions there il have a look on the Tard for something suitable! cheers
  14. Hi all, Iam after some advice. I have a garden trailer with 13" 5 stud wheels from a 1964 Ford Zephyr. Does anybody know what modern and easily available rim i could get to replace these original ones with (they have bad rust) I was thinking maybe a 90's Telstar or mondeo? I have noticed they are also 5 stud and plenty around. but i am only guessing here. offset is not important at all. any advice much appreciated cheers!
  15. Cool car mate. HB cosmos are awesome. Also you can get piston powered Cosmos, they are jap import - full spec but without the rotary engine. N.Z new are all badged '929' and usually lower spec. Coupes are also avalible in piston and rotary format. Good luck with your project!
  16. yeah, id been keen to know how you get on dave.
  17. How long is it supposed to last tho? It sounds like an excellent product from what ive read - but does it slowly break down over the years and you find out its stuffed when it starts leaking again and uv got bits of the 'skin' all thru the fuel lines and carb - thats what im aprehensive about.
  18. Hi all, I had a couple of small pinholes repaired on a petrol fuel tank on my ute with solder by the local radiator shop about 10months ago, have been all good up until now i noticed one is leaking a small amount again. it also has a dent in the bottom i wouldnt mind pushed out but cant get to it thru the sender hole. I have heard about the por15 repair kit which sounds good but would prefeer a proper fix if its possible. a second hand tank is not really an option as it took ages to find the one iv got and its the best iv come across by far. Was wondering if there is a place anywhere in N.Z that specialises in fuel tank repair/restoration? cheers

  23. wanting to do some paint stripping on my inner door panels before i por15 them. Just wondering on what the best mehod of clean up is after all the paint has been scraped off? The label on the stripper sugests to wash down with water to remove the excess after stripping the paint then wipe down with turps after. the guy in the paint department i brought it from thinks this is ok i have since been told by a painter that water is a big no no as the metal will be contaminated, he suggested to lightly scrub down with thinners & a wire wool pad followed by a final wipe down with this de oxidiser stuff you mix 50 50 with water (cant remember the name). what is the tried and tested mehod? i dont want to have the metal rusting away under the por15, however was thinking water may be part of the chemical reaction to neutralise the excess.
  24. sorry to jack the thread but where do you buy theroswitches from?
