Chickity
Discussion: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=29199 Just picked up a new project. Currently awaiting collection in a paddock in Northland. Immediate plans stretch as far as getting it going/roadworthy/re-vinned. Bare minimum basically. Will try to source some sweet wheels and roll it ratty for a while till I get bored and want to paint it a pretty colour. Better photos to come when the car is rescued from it's grassy prison in a week or so.
Chickity
Picked the rust bucket up on Sat. It could be worse. Could also be better, but could be worse. Stopped in at Ruakaka on the way. Dog needed out. Found this, thought of Oldschool Towed car into middle of paddock tied to the trailer. Started winching it on with the block and tackle. Electric winch decided earlier in the day that it wasn't going to play ball. Rope had too much stretch, winching was going to take days, so we unhooked the trailer, chocked it, and hooked the car to the Landy. Turns out the brakes don't work. Also, if you drag a car far enough, it seems the wheels will unsieze themselves just enough to roll too far. Got it back where it should be by reversing the polarity of the tow, but put a stop behind the car so it didn't fall off the back too... Homeward bound New resting place (rehab clinic) Mission complete. First step will be a strip down and build/mount it on a rotisserie and start chipping away at the rust. - If anyone has some Escort (4x108) rims/tyres they're not using, we need some that hold air just to move the car around a bit before it gets all rot808like. Chickity
Some quick investigation last night, made possible by the extra daylight, revealed some interesting things. It was parked under an apricot tree for a while There have been many many mice living in it. The chassis rails no longer exist behind the rear springs Newspapers in the car are from 2002. Last registered in 1997. Being driven? Or was someone working on it? Mystery. Turbo and manifold in the boot. Off what, we may never know. Many pieces of chrome. Several of which appear to be off not this car. 1x base for an electric kitchen mixer Front seats appear to be in ok condition. Rear seat appears to be not connected to the car in any way. 2 of the four door cards are intact, diagonally opposite. Weird. The dash covering is fucked, will probably roll steel. The little lip over the rear window is all kinds of awesome. Carpet will be coming out this weekend. Hopefully it'll smell less hideous after that. Ick. EURON8
We picked these up from leebo3 on labour weekend. 15" widen them to suit the slam etc Now that we have a welder at home, ill start on the rust work soon, once the tear down is complete and most of the shit has gone to the dump. Chickity
This moved yesterday. Forward about 10m and then back. Nearly killed the truck, but at least all the wheels have freed up. The toybaru has been removed from the garage, so hopefully at bit more attention will be paid to it in the coming weeks. A dump run is definitely in order. A whole bunch of worms had made their home in the detritus that accumulated under under/around one if the flat tires. Interesting.
