Sorensin
Hey does anyone know how to tell how many teeth you should have on the end of your starter? I've heard you can get nine and elven tooth geared starters. My starter keeps jamming and have replaced with a second starter that is now jamming so bleave this to be the problem. Its a 1600 711 block. Cheers guys
peteretep
I think from memory there is a difference between automatic and manual ring gear, as well as different type teeth between pre engaged and inertia starters. What type of starter are you using?
ESKIN8R
What about your ring gear type? It could be the wrong ring gear for your starter. Pre engaged and inertia starters have a diffrent ring gear.

ESKIN8R
Look at the gear, if they are straight cut they are pre engaged starter gear, or if they have a lead in edge its inertia type
