yeah_nah_yeah
Whats the trick to this, I want to run an alternater instead of the generator on the Mk1 Cortina. I always wanted to know how you measure Amps using a multimeter........
Yowzer
Isn't it just as simple as taking one off, removing the gen regulator unit and slapping on an alternator? Usually multimeters only measure 10-15 amps, alternators put out plenty more then that.
CaMpylobacter
yeah nah be careful measuring amps. you put the multimeter in series with the cable you're measuring the current in. 10A DC is tops for most. genny swap = swap alternator onto engine. run a huge fat cable to battery (big terminal of LUCAS alt). hook charge light cable to small terminal. done. you may need to remove some off the crud that goes with all the regulator and shit from the genny for clenliness. peteretep
the hardest bit is re integrating it with your existing setup, muck around with a multimeter for a bit to find what you need
