Z-M-K
Hey fellow Oldschooler's, I am looking at buying a Mitsubishi Ex lancer and am veery keen on the idea of the vr4 motor (been reading all the project build ups), I have found a tidy one but it's automatic does this mean more work (e.g gearbox mounts? sizing of tunnel? re-cutting gearbox hole?) or would it be the same amount of work with a factory manual ex? Thanx for reading. Z-M-K
fuel
I think autos will have a larger tunnel. Auto would make it easier going to hydraulic clutch, but if you're going to go cable clutch it might be a hassle.
lowlancer
What are you new at? Internet, or car stuff? Likely be the same amount of work, just cut it up, it's only an EX

mikuni
Have you bought the car yet? If I were looking at doing an EX build I would get one of the many that has had all, or at least some of the hardwork already done. Last time I looked there were a couple with twincams fitted and by the time you add up all the costs involved in the conversion, you'd probably be able to pick one up as a good starting point to work from for cheaper than what you'd build one for. I know it always looks cheaper on paper before hand. Car + motor + awesome. But there are so so so many hidden costs involved with conversions.
