Hey fellow Oldschooler's,

I am looking at buying a Mitsubishi Ex lancer and am veery keen on the idea of the vr4 motor (been reading all the project build ups), I have found a tidy one but it's automatic does this mean more work (e.g gearbox mounts? sizing of tunnel? re-cutting gearbox hole?) or would it be the same amount of work with a factory manual ex?

Thanx for reading.

Have you bought the car yet?

If I were looking at doing an EX build I would get one of the many that has had all, or at least some of the hardwork already done. Last time I looked there were a couple with twincams fitted and by the time you add up all the costs involved in the conversion, you'd probably be able to pick one up as a good starting point to work from for cheaper than what you'd build one for.

I know it always looks cheaper on paper before hand. Car + motor + awesome. But there are so so so many hidden costs involved with conversions.
