have also found a new issue, starion hubs lock out before lancer hubs. this is full lock so more mods will be needed (steering rack conversion at the same time)

this is how to remove axle bearings :badgrin:

got the engine and box out, got half way through stripping box, (expecting it to need new bearings and syncro's) then with a look of disbelief put it all back together again due to the uber mintness of everything :shock:

some plonker fitted the gearbox obviously :lol: (sorry) the shift lever bolts were loose as fuck (read: 5mm out of the hole) and that caused the levr to move too much and damage this hole...........so i weleded it :D its now round again

oh and wasnt happy with the end bend in the over diff, so i chopped it up again now i have a floating flange :lol:

well, the other night while busy ferreting away in the garage i heard a slight nawwing noise in the back ground

so i went to investigate.

I found the legendary rust goblin!

this rare creature has never been seen before and the only previous evidence of his existence was his excrement left on the panels of old cars :doubt:

oh and wire brushes can penetrate 3 layers of clothes (also i dont like wire with barbed ends)

fuck i like to make work for my self, just made a purchase on the wonderful trade me

thought id just skip the bull shit of upgrading to a massive heavy rear axel and just do it right

also brought a stash of alloy sheets to remake the rear floor pan after i destroy the steel one

this will not be tackled for some time i want to blow the old diff up first

im not sure wWTF was going on with my welding on these bits

appart from that and staring to deloom the engine bay not alot has happend but im back in the mood again so more stuff should start happening :D

no wait actually the engine and gearbox are in (for now)

well the last attempt at headers didnt work too well. the plan was to make the pipes then flare the ends to fit the shape of the ports, that failed! There wasn't enough give in the tube, so i chopped them up and salvaged some of the bends and started again but this time with the tube already made to fit :D

got the headers all tacked into place have carefully removed them (requires removeal of cylinder head to do so :lol: ) am not keen to weld them up till the last minute as i can see somthing will get in there way :rolleyes: so have started on the steering rack conversion

(started being the key word, other cars work and females are slowing me down atm :doubt: )

chopped the end off the rack to keep the ball joints level with the lower suspension pivots

its currently with a mate on waiting to go on his lathe to drill and tap the new hole for the tie rod

when it finally makes its way back i can begin measuring up how much i need to chop off the housing

hmm well ive been doing to tinkerbelling in the garage recently

had to 'modify the shock .................. on the bench grinder :badgrin:

suffered this fatality with 25mm more shock left, hopefully with some lower tyres a bit of stretch and some discs behind the wheels it will help

but wait a second... im not sure i realy need the extra 25mm's :lol::lol::lol: the cell phone measuring stick wasn't going to cut it so i improvised with a $2 coin :wink:
