redline racer
Hi all. what is the normal operating temperature on a 2.0 cortina? the reason i ask is i have just replaced my thermostat/coolant and radiator cap and the temperature now sits at a bit over half at full heat. Is this normal?(would sit on a bit over quarter temp before i changed the thermostat etc) any advice appreciated cheers
Vai-Man
I have a 2l cortina motor it sits just under half on the standard gauge, but there fairly inacurate. I havnt really seen mine go over half though i dont think it would be a big problem.
Gaz
Standard guage doesnt really tell you jack.. but.. if its not going into the red then it should be all good.
Chrome_GT
If Cortina temp Gauges are anything like Capri temp gauges then they are pretty useless. The Fords used a variety of sensors and gauges. My Capri reads right at the bottom of the scale most of the time. Used to read below lowest marker but it changed when i changed the thermostat. You'll know if your car overheats, preignition, detonating and run-on comes to mind.
redline racer
Cheers guys Yep looks to be just a slightly off reading from the dial which is no big deal, the guage dosnt go any higher than just above half after long periods of idling or driving and is running well at the temp so all is good
