RT
Hey does anyone know if the ford c3 autobox uses the same speedo connection as the C4 auto? cos then I could use a speedo cable from a automatic cortina or something for my capri which is running a C4
SYKOV6
pretty sure its the same bro or if your c4 has its own one then it should fit straight on to your speedo cable anyway
RT
pretty sure the speedo attaches differently on the autoboxes (C4) then the 5 speed manual I used to have..
SYKOV6
sorry bro thought u were talkin about the speedo from a c3. u had a supra? how does the speedo attach to the toyota box? a ford manual box cable should be the same as the auto [threaded fitting on box end] not sure though dont know what sort of mods have been made to your cable to fit manual box. it may just be a case of getting one auto cable and a capri stocker and make 1 out of the 2 at the correct length. just had a look at my spare c4 cable should have the drive gear fixed on the end of the cable and be held into the box by 'c' shaped peice held on by a bolt. ive got a pic of my box but camera batts are flat will post when charged dave
RT
nah I never had the supra box in. I had the sierra 5 speed, so my cable is the original ford capri item. yeah I think I know about the drive gear. The manual ones are different, it is just a cable which is held in to a wee slot with a circlip. I am currently bidding on a cable from a XC Falcon which I hope is for a C4. Then I am taking a gamble whether it may fit the back of my Capri speedo gauge.. hopefully early ford speedo gauges have the same fitting on the back
SYKOV6
is your speedo end clip on or screw on? the prob with the capri is its a pommy ford and your tryin to adapt aussie ford bits which are closer to the yankee fords. how you gettin on with ya conversion any pics?. ive always had a hankering for a v8 capri cool styling with raw power its quite primitive really

I'm hanging out for that V8 sound.. iBut ts pretty slow going actually.. I bought heaps of nice bits and have been waiting for my friend to put the engine together. Lots of Edelbrock in there.. and I've got mounts and everything all done. But can't do anything til my engine is back.. should be this week. RT
um, 5.0i mustang V8 with Edelbrock RPM alloy heads with 2.02 in and 1.90 big stainless valves, Kelford roller camshaft, 1.7 Scorpion roller rockers, comp cams hydralic lifters, 70mm Edelbrock throttlebody, Edelbrock RPM EFi intake system, skyline injectors, 9.5-1 compression, backed up by a rebuilt and shiftkitted C4 auto with a 1800rpm high stall, and a B&M pro rachet. ooooh it sounds so exciting. I'm hoping for around 350bhp
SYKOV6
sounds sweet man what are cam specs? what sort of ecu u running? what it owe you? 350hp should be pretty easy make the capri stand on its arse
davidian
twist that chassis yo/nah. sounds wickaaard thought you woulda gone for higher comp? is the cam quite angry or more driveable?
RT
its a pretty mild cam actually, Should be very steetable and I got the 1.7 rockers rather than the standard 1.6 ones to give it some bonus lift. I was tempted to go bigger but it's always tempting to over cam things and then regret it. So I'll just see how she goes. 9.5 is a good comp for a windsor I wouldn't want to go much higher really. yeah its cost me $8k so far.. and I haven't paid for it to be put together yet. I could never understand why everyone who builds a decent 8 says it's a $10,000 project. Now I know lol.. the shit just adds up. Yeah bit worried about he chassis twisting lol.. might have to put a cage in afterall. Then again.. Ive seen lots of V8 capris with just a strut brace so who knows.. SYKOV6
youll prolly need some chassis connectors made up these link the front suspension with the rear spring mounts basically just a pice of 50x25 box bolted thru main suspension components tying the front and rear together. its common as in early [LC-LJ] torrie v8 conversions ill try and find sum pics
