RT
man it sucks tracking down the cause of missfires.. i've got a massive one at 4000rpm on full boost and it's pissing me off. My mates gonna tune it properly while I'm away. I think it's too rich and needs computer tuning.. my mate reckons it's sparkplugs. Are you using AP6FS NGK plugs? its a 2L pinto right? btw those gt40 are ABSOLUTE SHITHOUSE.. we did a back to back test with one vs MSD blaster and OMG they are shit. Changing to a MSD solved so many problems for me.
Guest WESTCORT
ok so ill check for vacuum leaks with the crc method and then check if anything is arcing behind the dash which may be a problem since i did a bit of a dodgy soldering job on the dash. have tried 2 sets of leads to no avail but they wernt brand new so ill invest in some new leads pretty sure they are the plugs im using RT and its not a pinto its 1.3 litres of pure hell And with the gt40 its gota be better than a standard eski coil or a nissan sentra 1 lol. whats makes the gt40 shit? yep running a filter havent changed it before and ive had the car 3 years so could replace that and then check if the fuel pump is working okay. The shit thing about this misfiring is you cant pin it down to 1 problem it could be a thousand things 995 of which i have tried. wheres a good place to get cheap but good leads from? im looking for a 32/36 carb aswell if anyone has

Defcon
My bet, fuel, carb pump or filter. Firsty your not running it on 91 are you? One year is plenty of time for a carb to fall out of tune or get clogged with crap. Replace the filter and check the pump is running smoothly. Guest WESTCORT
lol wouldnt dream of running it on 91 comp is way too high. run it on 95 at the least but normally 96 makes no difference either when i put 98 in. ok so ill check the fuel and carb this weekend check for manifold leaks and check behind the dash for any arcing. eskorted: goin to see davidian this weekend to suss out the carb but cheers anyway
RT
And with the gt40 its gota be better than a standard eski coil or a nissan sentra 1 lol. whats makes the gt40 shit? They are just shit. Try for yourself, disconnect the main lead from the coil and hold it close to a bit of metal and get a mate to crank it over. See the spark?.. smaller than a bees dick. Then grab a blaster and do the same thing and you'll see a strong blue arc pump out of it. The difference is substantial. You could do the test with your standard escort one and the gt40 one is probably no different.
